Point2 Technology has completed an extension of its Series B financing, bringing the total round to $136 million as the company accelerates commercialization of its RF-based interconnect technology for AI data centers. The latest financing was led by LB Investment, with new strategic participation from Arm and continued backing from existing investors including Maverick Silicon. Point2’s investor roster also includes NVIDIA, UMC Capital, Molex and Bosch Ventures, along with other new and existing investors.
San Jose-based Point2 develops interconnect technologies intended to address increasing bandwidth, power consumption and connectivity requirements as AI computing systems scale.
The company’s e-Tube Technology Platform uses RF signaling transmitted over plastic waveguides and is designed as an alternative to traditional copper and optical interconnects for next-generation AI data center architectures.
Point2 plans to use the new capital to expand its engineering, systems, operations and business teams while accelerating commercialization of three primary product categories: Active RF Cable, near-packaged e-Tube and co-packaged e-Tube solutions.
The company is targeting future rack-scale compute architectures in which accelerators need increasingly high-bandwidth connections with lower power consumption and latency.
Point2 said AI infrastructure is moving toward terabit-per-second bandwidth requirements, making interconnect performance an increasingly important constraint on scaling compute clusters.
The company claims its e-Tube platform can provide 10 times the reach, five times lower weight and two times lower cable volume than copper at comparable cost.
Compared with optical connections, Point2 said e-Tube can provide three times lower power consumption, three times lower cost and 1,000 times lower latency while avoiding reliability risks associated with lasers.
The technology is designed to support high-bandwidth-density accelerator-to-accelerator compute fabrics and rack-scale interconnects through pluggable cable, near-packaged and co-packaged configurations.
Point2 develops ultra-low-power RF and mixed-signal interconnect systems-on-chip for multi-terabit connections used in AI and accelerated computing infrastructure.
KEY QUOTES:
“As AI systems scale and bandwidth demands reach terabit-per-second speeds, interconnect has become the defining bottleneck. The latest investment from Arm, LB Investment, Maverick Silicon, and others validates that our e-Tube platform is emerging as a critical interconnect solution for next-generation AI data factories.”
Sean Park, Co-Founder and CEO of Point2 Technology
“The next generation of AI infrastructure will rely on advances across the entire technology stack, from compute to memory and interconnect. Point2 is addressing an increasingly important challenge as AI systems scale, and we are pleased to support their work in advancing the technologies that will underpin the future of AI infrastructure.”
Paul Williamson, SVP, Strategic Ventures at Arm
“As AI data centers push toward larger, more power-efficient compute clusters, interconnect has become a critical infrastructure challenge. Point2’s innovative platform is helping to solve this challenge by enabling tomorrow’s scalable, energy-efficient data-center infrastructure.”
Kiho Park, CEO of LB Investment
