Polar Capital Technology Trust has appointed Simon Crinage as an independent non-executive director, adding an investment-company veteran with decades of financial services and capital markets experience to its board.
Crinage’s appointment will take effect in October 2026, and he will also become Chair of the Remuneration Committee and Senior Independent Director.
Crinage is currently a Managing Director at J.P. Morgan Asset Management and is scheduled to leave the firm on December 31, 2026.
From April 2013 through November 2025, his responsibilities included strategy, governance, regulatory matters, capital markets activity, and board and shareholder engagement across J.P. Morgan’s investment trust business.
Crinage joined Robert Fleming, now part of J.P. Morgan, in August 1984.
His career has included more than 30 years focused on investment companies, along with roles spanning investment management, client management, product development, distribution, and capital markets.
His capital markets experience includes work involving initial public offerings, secondary fundraising, discount management, and market positioning strategies.
He also previously held a European role covering communications for institutional and retail clients and spent part of his career with Jardine Fleming, where he was involved in developing mutual fund businesses in Asian markets including Hong Kong and Malaysia.
Crinage previously served as a director of The Association of Investment Companies, a position he held until January 2023.
The appointment adds substantial investment trust experience to Polar Capital Technology Trust’s board as the company oversees a portfolio focused on the global technology sector.
A resolution proposing Crinage’s election as a non-executive director will be submitted to shareholders at the trust’s 2027 Annual General Meeting.
At the time of the announcement, Crinage held 10,000 shares in Polar Capital Technology Trust.
His appointment gives the board another director with direct experience in investment trust governance, capital markets, shareholder engagement, and distribution, alongside his background working with both institutional and retail investors.
