Portman Square Group announced the appointment of Brad Fernandez as Managing Director of Operations, adding a veteran intelligence and corporate risk executive to its leadership team. In this role, Fernandez will help strengthen the firm’s capabilities in business intelligence, investigations, cybersecurity, strategic advisory services, and crisis response.

Fernandez brings experience from both the private and public sectors. During his 14-year tenure at BP, he built and led the company’s global intelligence capability, supporting major transactions and helping the organization operate in complex political and security environments. His work included advising executives on cross-border risks, market-entry strategies, sensitive transactions, internal threats, and geopolitical challenges.

At Portman Square Group, Fernandez will help lead operations while supporting the firm’s continued growth across its intelligence, investigative, cybersecurity, and strategic advisory practices.

Most recently, Fernandez served as BP’s Vice President of Intelligence & International Advisory. His responsibilities included international security affairs, commercial diplomacy, global political risk, business intelligence, strategic cyber intelligence, and insider risk. He advised BP’s executive leadership team, mergers and acquisitions leaders, business development teams, regional executives, trading and shipping operations, as well as legal, compliance, and security functions.

Prior to BP, Fernandez served as an Operations Officer in the Central Intelligence Agency’s Directorate of Operations, holding multiple assignments throughout the Middle East. He joined BP in 2012 to establish the company’s Business Intelligence function, creating a capability focused on human-source intelligence and strategic partnerships designed to generate commercial insights for transaction and investment teams.

Portman Square Group said the appointment reinforces its ability to help clients navigate increasingly complex business, legal, reputational, operational, and geopolitical challenges.
