Postman has acquired liblab, a developer platform known for automating Software Development Kit generation, marking a significant expansion of Postman’s capabilities across the full API lifecycle. The acquisition strengthens Postman’s position in the rapidly growing API-first ecosystem and advances its strategy to deliver an integrated platform for building AI-ready and agent-enabled APIs.

Postman, based in San Francisco, said the deal will allow it to deepen its support for developers by unifying API design, testing, documentation, consumption, and now automated SDK creation under one platform. The company noted that eliminating the complexity of producing and maintaining SDKs has become increasingly important as organizations accelerate their adoption of APIs for both traditional software and AI-driven applications.

Founded in 2022, liblab enables developers to generate customizable, production-quality SDKs in seconds, offering libraries that resemble expert-written code across all major languages. The solution has been used to simplify API consumption for engineering teams seeking to scale quickly and maintain consistency across products and services.

Postman plans to integrate liblab’s technology directly into its platform, making automated SDK generation accessible to more than 40 million developers worldwide. By doing so, the company aims to strengthen the connection between API producers and consumers, allowing teams to build software using either API endpoints or prebuilt SDKs while ensuring documentation, test suites, and client libraries remain aligned. The combined workflow is expected to accelerate innovation across languages and ecosystems.

Postman continues to grow as one of the most widely used API collaboration platforms, with more than 40 million developers and 500,000 organizations relying on its tools. Its customers include nearly all Fortune 500 companies. With offices in San Francisco, Bangalore, Boston, New York City, and Tokyo, the privately held company is backed by investors such as Battery Ventures, BOND, Coatue, CRV, Insight Partners, and Nexus Venture Partners.

KEY QUOTES:
