Power Solutions International announced that it has acquired MTL Manufacturing & Equipment, a Beloit, Wisconsin–based metal and steel manufacturing company that produces key fabricated components for power generation systems, including data centers.

The transaction involved the purchase of 100% of MTL’s outstanding stock and was financed using Power Solutions International’s existing cash reserves along with the assumption of certain equipment-related debt. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

MTL manufactures a range of fabricated products, including switchgear subbases, electrical enclosure assemblies, and fuel tanks used in large-scale power generation products. The company operates two facilities in Beloit totaling more than 185,000 square feet of manufacturing space and has over three decades of experience in welding and steel fabrication.

The company’s capabilities include vertically integrated manufacturing, with engineering support and advanced fabrication technologies, including automated laser cutting, bending, forming, welding, and state-of-the-art paint and drying facilities. MTL also holds certifications, including UL142, ULC S601, and UL2085.

Power Solutions International said the acquisition is expected to strengthen its competitive position in the data center market by vertically integrating specialized manufacturing capabilities that support its enclosure and power generation systems. The integration is designed to improve supply chain control, reduce lead times, and leverage MTL’s certification credentials.

The acquisition is also intended to enhance Power Solutions International’s ability to meet the growing demand for reliable power generation solutions for rapidly expanding data center infrastructure.

MTL’s existing management team will continue to lead operations following the transaction to maintain operational continuity and customer relationships.

Power Solutions International designs, engineers, and manufactures emissions-certified engines and power systems used across industrial, transportation, and power generation markets. The company provides integrated solutions for original equipment manufacturers and end users, with systems capable of running on multiple fuel types, including natural gas, propane, gasoline, diesel, and biofuels.
