PRC-Saltillo Buys Therapy Box Apps To Expand Global AAC Portfolio

PRC-Saltillo, a major provider of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) tools, said it has acquired the Therapy Box suite of apps—Predictable, Scene & Heard Pro, Colourful Semantics, and Voca Quest—adding a set of widely used communication and language-development products to its existing app lineup.

The deal brings Therapy Box’s Europe-centered footprint into PRC-Saltillo’s global distribution network, with the company positioning the acquisition to broaden access to AAC across ages, language development stages, languages, geographies, and price points. PRC-Saltillo said the Therapy Box apps will be integrated into PRC-Saltillo products internationally, though timing and availability will vary by country as the company rolls out region-specific plans.

Therapy Box was founded in 2011 by Rebecca Bright and Swapnil Gadgil, and the company’s apps have been recognized in AAC circles for helping people with speech and language disabilities communicate using mobile-first tools. PRC-Saltillo said the apps will continue to be sold under their established brand names, and that development and customer support will remain with the existing Therapy Box team, which is based across the UK, Ireland, and India.

As part of the transition, Therapy Box employees have joined Liberator UK, a PRC-Saltillo subsidiary, under the leadership of Managing Director Robin Short. Bright and Gadgil will step away from day-to-day operations following the acquisition.

PRC-Saltillo said the Therapy Box products will join its broader AAC app portfolio, which includes Avaz as well as PRC-Saltillo apps such as TouchChat, LAMP Words for Life, Unity AAC, and Dialogue AAC. The company, founded in 1966, is 100% employee-owned and headquartered in Wooster, Ohio, with subsidiaries in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Germany, Singapore, and India.
