Presence: Acquisition Of Education Modified Expands Special Education Workflow Platform

By Amit Chowdhry ● May 20, 2026

Presence announced it has acquired Education Modified, a special education technology platform designed to streamline workflows and improve coordination across school support teams.

The acquisition is aimed at accelerating Presence’s efforts to build a unified system for managing special education services, interventions, accommodations, and student support workflows as school districts face increasing operational demands.

Founded in 2018, Education Modified developed tools that digitize and centralize special education workflows by connecting educators, special education professionals, and IT teams. The platform enables users to track accommodations, academic interventions, services, and student progress within a single system.

Presence said the integration of Education Modified’s capabilities into its Kanga platform will expand the system beyond therapy and assessment services to include IEP, RTI, and 504 data and workflows. School administrators and educators will be able to access shared student information in one location, monitor accommodations and services together, and gain broader visibility into student progress.

The company also highlighted findings from a recent survey of nearly 800 school and district administrators conducted by District Administration on behalf of Presence. The survey found that fragmented systems and inconsistent documentation continue to create challenges for special education management, with more than 80% of respondents saying a single integrated system would be highly or extremely valuable.

Education Modified’s SmartPlans feature will also become part of the combined platform. The feature is designed to help schools improve efficiency and compliance by generating IEPs in minutes.

Presence noted that the acquisition reflects broader momentum in the special education technology market. The company said it has delivered more than 8 million remote evaluations and teletherapy sessions through its network of over 2,000 clinicians. Presence’s Kanga platform also received Tech & Learning Best of 2025 Awards in both primary and secondary education categories.

KEY QUOTES:

“Education Modified has built powerful technology, and we’re proud to integrate it into our platform. Our combined technology gives special education leaders and school staff full visibility into services, accommodations, and student outcomes so educators can spend less time navigating systems and more time supporting students.”

Kate Eberle Walker, CEO, Presence

“When I was a special education teacher, one of the biggest challenges was ensuring that every educator working with a student was aligned. We built Education Modified to make IEPs and student supports easier to access, understand, and act on. Joining Presence allows us to bring that capability into a broader platform that connects services and innovative technologies to ensure school teams can work together effectively and all students can thrive.”
