Priori: AI-Driven RFP Platform Enhances Outside Counsel Selection With New Capabilities

By Amit Chowdhry • Apr 7, 2026

Priori announced new artificial intelligence capabilities within its Priori RFP platform, introducing an AI agent called Scout to bring greater structure, consistency, and data-driven decision-making to how legal teams select outside counsel.

The update is designed to help in-house legal departments navigate increasingly complex decisions around where legal work should be assigned, how it should be priced, and when AI should be incorporated into workflows. Traditionally, these decisions have been made using fragmented data and inconsistent processes, often spread across multiple systems.

Scout integrates firm intelligence, historical billing data, lawyer profiles, and internal organizational guidelines into a unified workflow. The AI agent analyzes each legal matter, recommends a sourcing path, identifies suitable firms or lawyers, and supports the full lifecycle from request for proposal creation to final selection.

The platform enables legal teams to determine whether work should remain in-house, be outsourced to alternative legal service providers, assigned to panel firms, or put out for competitive bidding. It also applies internal rules of engagement automatically, ensuring alignment with company policies and pricing strategies.

By consolidating data and standardizing workflows, Priori aims to improve both speed and consistency in outside counsel selection while keeping final decisions under human control. The platform also supports structured evaluation of proposals, allowing teams to compare firms based on experience, past performance, and pricing benchmarks.

The company positions these enhancements as part of a broader shift toward more systematic and strategic legal sourcing, where AI plays a central role in organizing information and guiding decision-making across the entire intake-to-selection process.

KEY QUOTES:

“As legal departments look to bring more rigor to how outside counsel is selected, those decisions are becoming more systematic. The most important decisions often happen before an RFP is ever issued, when teams determine how work should be resourced. These new AI capabilities are designed to support that full process, from shaping how matters are handled to guiding RFP creation, evaluating proposals, and ultimately helping teams select the right firms.”

Basha Rubin, CEO and Co-Founder of Priori

“In most legal departments, the information needed to evaluate outside counsel exists, but it’s often scattered across different systems. At the same time, in-house teams are continuing to refine their rules of engagement for how legal work should be sourced, and increasingly need technology to support how those frameworks are applied in practice. With Scout, legal teams can now bring their sourcing strategies into the decision itself, applying them with the right context when it matters most.”
