Purpose Legal, a provider of digital forensics, eDiscovery, AI-powered managed review and legal operations services, has acquired Hire Counsel, a managed review and flexible legal staffing company with more than 30 years in the market.
The companies said the transaction creates a single managed services platform designed to combine experienced review teams and established delivery processes with modern legal technology and AI-driven workflows, aiming to give law firms and corporate legal departments more scale and flexibility without compromising quality.
Purpose Legal said it will use Hire Counsel’s talent network of more than 70,000 vetted attorneys and its long-standing client relationships to expand capacity for matters ranging from large-scale litigation to complex investigations and regulatory work. The combined organization plans to apply AI-assisted workflows in ways intended to emphasize confidentiality, accountability and consistent execution, particularly as legal teams face rising data volumes and tighter timelines.
Following the acquisition, the managed review, flexible staffing and specialized legal operations offerings will operate under the name “Hire Counsel, a Purpose Legal Company,” while core eDiscovery, digital forensics, managed services and infrastructure services will continue under the “Purpose Legal” brand.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Support: Blue Sage Capital, Purpose Legal’s majority investor, supported the transaction and worked with management to complete the deal. The parties said Purpose Legal was represented by Queen Saenz + Schutz PLLC for legal counsel, SCA for accounting, Cherry Bekaert for tax, and Lockton for insurance, while Comerica Bank served as the financing partner. Hire Counsel, a portfolio company of Long Point Capital, was represented by Sidley Austin as legal counsel and Jegi Leonis as financial advisor.
