Qloud Games: $5 Million Seed Raised To Build Solarpunk MMO Loftia

By Amit Chowdhry • Aug 16, 2025

Qloud Games, an independent studio, has announced a $5 million seed funding round for its upcoming massively multiplayer online game, Loftia. The round was led by BITKRAFT Ventures and GFR Fund, with participation from Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), 1UP Fund, and Gaingels.

Co-founded by Michael Su, Martina Qin, and Eric Mallon, Qloud Games is creating the first cozy MMO set in a vibrant solarpunk world, emphasizing positive, collaborative, and eco-conscious gameplay. Players collaborate to build eco-friendly cities, design community spaces, and participate in sustainability projects. The game features farming, crafting with green technologies, and large-scale community quests that strengthen social bonds. Customization options for homes, outfits, and pets reflect solarpunk aesthetics, inviting players to relax and express their creativity in a welcoming environment.

Loftia fills a gap in the cozy gaming genre by incorporating live service and cross-platform multiplayer elements, aimed at young adults seeking meaningful social gameplay. With over 600,000 followers on TikTok, Instagram, Discord, and Reddit, Qloud Games actively collaborates with its player community, allowing them to shape the game through their feedback. This approach has led to significant changes, making players feel like co-creators rather than just customers.

KEY QUOTES:

“With Loftia, we’re creating the kind of world we wish existed—one where people work together to create a brighter future. Thanks to the support of BITKRAFT, GFR Fund, a16z, and our Kickstarter backers, we’re excited to bring Loftia to life.”

Michael Su, CEO and co-founder of Qloud Games

“Michael and Martina have put everything into Loftia—investing over $500,000 of their own capital earned from a Canva ESOP, rallying a record‑breaking Kickstarter, and building a 600,000‑strong community before launch. With a successful Alpha already behind them, funding secured through launch, and a real distribution edge in the massive but underserved cozy genre, they’re poised to bring live service, cross‑platform, and social play to a new generation of players—and build a world‑class studio from Australia with global impact.”
