Qualcomm Technologies has introduced Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, two new flagship mobile processors designed to support the next generation of smartphones and autonomous AI experiences. Announced at Snapdragon Summit 2026 in Maui, the new platforms combine advanced on-device artificial intelligence, gaming, photography, and connectivity capabilities. Qualcomm also announced a collaboration with Google to power Googlebook, a new category of AI-powered laptops designed around Gemini Intelligence, with Dell and HP becoming the first manufacturers to introduce devices.
The announcements reflect Qualcomm’s strategy to develop personal computing platforms for what the company calls the Agentic AI Age, in which AI assistants can proactively understand context, anticipate user needs, and complete tasks across smartphones, laptops, and other connected devices.
Rather than relying exclusively on cloud-based AI services, Qualcomm is expanding the processing capabilities available directly on personal devices. Its latest platforms are designed to support increasingly sophisticated AI applications while maintaining the performance and power efficiency required for everyday use.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 is Qualcomm’s most powerful mobile platform, targeting premium Android smartphones that require advanced AI processing, graphics performance, and computational photography.
The processor introduces Adreno Neural Fusion, which uses AI to improve graphics rendering, deliver more immersive gaming experiences, and extend gameplay through greater processing efficiency.
Qualcomm is also expanding its AI-powered camera capabilities with Advanced Professional Video (APV) support and Intelligent Pixel Control. These technologies are designed to improve scene understanding, image quality, and the accuracy of colors and other visual details in photographs and videos.
The second processor, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, uses the same advanced 2-nanometer manufacturing process as the Extreme model. It incorporates a custom Qualcomm Oryon CPU, a redesigned Qualcomm Adreno GPU, and the company’s advanced Hexagon neural processing unit.
The platform is designed to bring many of the same AI, gaming, imaging, and connectivity capabilities available in the Extreme model to a broader selection of premium smartphones. Qualcomm’s two-platform approach also gives smartphone manufacturers additional flexibility when developing devices for different market segments.
Both processors are designed to support on-device AI agents that deliver faster, more personalized, and more adaptive experiences. These capabilities are intended to enable AI assistants to respond to changing user needs throughout the day, incorporating contextual information while leveraging the device’s processing resources.
Qualcomm confirmed that HONOR, iQOO, Motorola, OnePlus, OPPO, REDMI, RedMagic, vivo, and Xiaomi are among the smartphone manufacturers planning to introduce flagship devices powered by the new processors.
Alongside its smartphone announcements, Qualcomm is expanding its collaboration with Google through the introduction of Googlebook, the first category of laptops designed specifically for Gemini Intelligence.
Powered by the Snapdragon X Elite platform, Googlebook combines Qualcomm’s computing architecture and neural processing capabilities with Google’s Gemini AI and Android ecosystem.
The new laptops are designed to deliver all-day battery life, native Android application support, advanced AI capabilities, and seamless connectivity with Android smartphones and tablets. This approach lets users move between mobile and desktop while keeping access to their apps and information.
Googlebook also introduces several AI-powered features, including Cast my Apps, Magic Pointer, and Rambler. These capabilities integrate information from emails, calendars, and on-screen content while providing enhanced connectivity between laptops and smartphones.
The integration with Gemini Intelligence is intended to enable more proactive and personalized computing experiences. Rather than requiring users to switch between applications to locate information or complete routine activities, the system is designed to surface relevant information and provide contextual assistance within existing workflows.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite processor provides the computing performance and neural processing capabilities necessary to support these experiences while maintaining the power efficiency required for mobile computing.
Googlebook also supports thousands of native Android applications and games, extending the Android software ecosystem into a premium laptop environment. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Elite Gaming technologies provide additional gaming capabilities, including faster frame rates and enhanced graphics.
Dell and HP are the first manufacturers to introduce Snapdragon X Elite-powered Googlebooks, and both companies have opened preorders for their initial devices.
Dell is introducing the XPS Googlebook, combining its premium laptop design with Snapdragon X Elite processing and Gemini Intelligence. The device is intended for customers seeking a premium computing experience integrated with Google’s Android ecosystem.
HP is introducing the HP Googlebook 14, which similarly combines Snapdragon X Elite with Gemini Intelligence, native Android applications, and enhanced cross-device connectivity.
Both manufacturers are positioning their devices around AI-enabled productivity, mobility, and integration with the Android applications and services that customers already use.
The smartphone and laptop announcements expand Qualcomm’s efforts to deliver a consistent AI computing experience across personal devices. By combining its mobile processors with the Snapdragon X Series, the company is developing platforms that support increasingly autonomous AI applications while maintaining device-level processing capabilities.
