Quantinuum has appointed Robin Schulman as Chief Legal Officer and Company Secretary and Rory O’Byrne as Chief People Officer as the quantum computing company expands its leadership team following its transition into the public markets.
Schulman’s appointment became effective July 13, 2026, while O’Byrne joined Quantinuum effective May 26, 2026. Both executives report to President and CEO Rajeeb Hazra.
The appointments are intended to strengthen Quantinuum’s legal, governance, organizational and workforce capabilities as it scales its commercial operations and develops additional quantum computing systems and software.
As Chief Legal Officer and Company Secretary, Schulman will help oversee Quantinuum’s legal affairs, corporate governance, compliance, intellectual property, privacy and other responsibilities associated with operating as a publicly listed technology company.
The Company Secretary role generally includes supporting the board of directors, maintaining corporate records and helping ensure that governance procedures meet applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
Schulman brings more than two decades of legal and executive leadership experience involving high-growth technology businesses, strategic transformations and public company operations.
She most recently served as Chief Legal Officer and Head of Corporate Affairs at GitLab, where she spent nearly seven years leading functions that included legal, compliance, public policy, competition, intellectual property, corporate development, sustainability and privacy.
Before GitLab, Schulman served as Chief Legal Officer at Couchbase and New Relic. She also held senior leadership positions at Adobe.
Her background gives Quantinuum experience managing legal and corporate issues that can arise as technology companies expand internationally, commercialize intellectual property and operate under public-market reporting and governance requirements.
Quantum computing companies may also face specialized legal and policy considerations involving patents, government partnerships, export controls, research collaborations and the protection of sensitive technology.
Schulman said she plans to work with Quantinuum’s board and leadership team to establish a durable foundation for the company’s continued development.
O’Byrne brings more than 25 years of international human resources experience spanning publicly traded and private equity-backed organizations across technology, energy, mining and industrial markets.
He most recently served as Chief People Officer at Advanced Energy, where he led the human resources organization through a period of integration, operational expansion and business transformation.
Before Advanced Energy, O’Byrne served as Chief Human Resources Officer at Jonah Energy and Senior Vice President of Global Human Resources at MRC Global.
As Chief People Officer, O’Byrne will help develop the workforce, culture and organizational infrastructure required to support Quantinuum’s expansion as a public company.
His responsibilities are expected to include talent strategy, leadership development, organizational design, employee engagement and the systems used to recruit and retain highly specialized technical employees.
Quantum computing companies compete for a limited pool of scientists, engineers and researchers with expertise in areas such as quantum physics, hardware engineering, cryogenics, control systems, error correction and quantum software.
Quantinuum employs approximately 700 people globally. More than 70% of its technology workforce holds a master’s degree or doctorate, reflecting the advanced scientific and engineering capabilities required to develop commercial quantum systems.
The company is headquartered in Broomfield, Colorado, and operates additional facilities across the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, Qatar and Singapore.
Quantinuum develops a full-stack quantum computing platform, meaning it works across hardware, software and the technologies required to make quantum systems usable in practical environments.
Its commercially deployed systems use trapped ions as qubits. Trapped-ion quantum computers hold electrically charged atoms in controlled environments and manipulate their quantum states to perform calculations.
The company’s machines are based on a quantum charge-coupled device architecture, commonly known as QCCD. This approach allows ions to be transported among different processing regions so that quantum operations can be performed while supporting system scalability.
Quantinuum said its designs have achieved high accuracy based on average two-qubit gate fidelity as of December 31, 2025.
Two-qubit gates are fundamental operations that allow quantum bits to interact. Their accuracy is an important measurement because errors can accumulate as a quantum algorithm performs more operations.
Quantinuum is working with organizations across pharmaceuticals, materials science, financial services, government and industrial markets, along with academic and research institutions.
Potential commercial applications include molecular simulation, materials development, optimization, cybersecurity and other problems that may eventually benefit from quantum computation.
However, the broader industry must continue improving qubit quality, error correction and system scale before quantum computers can address many commercially valuable workloads more effectively than conventional computing systems.
Hazra said Schulman and O’Byrne have experience guiding technology companies through transformation and building high-performing business functions.
Their appointments give Quantinuum additional leadership capacity as it balances scientific research with commercialization, customer development and the responsibilities associated with operating as a public company.
