Rackspace Technology has appointed Pranav Nambiar as Senior Vice President and General Manager of AI Infrastructure. Nambiar will lead the infrastructure, operating model, strategic partnerships and go-to-market strategy supporting Rackspace’s AI infrastructure offerings.
His appointment is intended to strengthen Rackspace’s position as a model-agnostic operator of production AI environments for regulated and mission-critical enterprises.
Rackspace said enterprise demand is increasingly moving beyond access to GPU capacity and toward governed computing environments that incorporate data sovereignty, compliance, security and operational controls from the beginning.
As companies shift AI initiatives from pilot programs into production, they need infrastructure capable of supporting dependable performance, regulatory requirements and large-scale operations.
Nambiar will oversee Rackspace’s efforts to address these requirements through sovereign and compliant infrastructure designed to support AI models, inference workloads and agentic applications in production.
He brings more than 20 years of experience developing and scaling cloud, data and artificial intelligence businesses at DigitalOcean, Google, Amazon Web Services and Microsoft.
Nambiar most recently served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of AI and Data Cloud at DigitalOcean.
During his tenure, he helped lead DigitalOcean’s expansion into what the company described as an AI neocloud and increased its production inference infrastructure for thousands of customers.
Before joining DigitalOcean, Nambiar led Google’s generative AI and data services portfolio.
At Amazon Web Services, he held leadership responsibilities across several major cloud services, including Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon Elasticsearch and Amazon SageMaker.
Nambiar also contributed to the development of AWS’s broader data and artificial intelligence platforms.
Earlier in his career, he held multiple leadership positions at Microsoft, where he worked on digital strategies across the company’s mobile, search and Windows businesses.
Nambiar has also advised corporate executives and board members on enterprise AI adoption, agentic technologies and autonomous systems, particularly within regulated industries.
At Rackspace, he will focus on developing the infrastructure and operational frameworks needed to help enterprises deploy AI applications securely and reliably.
The company is positioning itself as an operator of the full enterprise AI stack, spanning governed private cloud infrastructure, AI inference and agents running in production.
Rackspace delivers its services through an Outcomes-as-a-Service model that combines secure infrastructure, data foundations and forward-deployed engineering.
The company primarily targets regulated and mission-critical industries where governance, uptime, security and data sovereignty are important operating requirements.
Rackspace CEO Gajen Kandiah said the primary enterprise AI challenge is no longer choosing an underlying model. Instead, companies need the infrastructure and operational discipline required to govern and run those models at scale.
Nambiar’s appointment is expected to accelerate Rackspace’s development of sovereign AI environments, compliance capabilities and partnerships across the broader AI infrastructure ecosystem.
