Radnostix announced that it has closed its acquisition of key assets from Lucerno Dynamics. The acquired assets include the LARA System technology platform, ELLEXA Explorer software, and associated intellectual property.
Radnostix is a radioisotope production and nuclear medicine solutions company. The acquisition expands the company’s medical device portfolio for radiopharmaceutical and nuclear medicine applications.
The acquired product line was originally developed to identify, improve dosimetry of, and reduce the frequency of extravasations of IV-administered radiopharmaceuticals. More recently, the product line expanded to include a Real-Time Visualization feature that allows clinicians to stop extravasations as they happen before they become a more serious concern during theranostics administration.
The acquired intellectual property also includes potential applications in uptake, dosimetry, quantification, and integration with auto-infusion drug delivery systems. Radnostix said the acquisition will enable it to develop new product offerings around practical delivery and monitoring solutions for both new and existing market participants.
Radnostix said the deal marks a significant milestone in its strategy to become a broader solutions provider in the theranostics delivery and administration market. The company expects the LARA and ELLEXA technologies to support tools for drug uptake monitoring, dosimetry systems, and potential pairing with drug injection systems.
Lucerno Dynamics said the LARA System adds about one to two minutes to the radiopharmaceutical administration procedure. The company also said the LARA System and ELLEXA software have been clinically proven in nearly 50,000 administrations across centers in Australia, Singapore, Japan, Europe, and the U.S.
Radnostix, formerly International Isotopes, was established in 1995 and is headquartered in Idaho Falls, Idaho. The company manufactures and supplies generic sodium iodide I-131 radiopharmaceutical drug products for hyperthyroidism and thyroid cancer.
Radnostix also provides contract manufacturing of drug products and radioisotope API supply for third-party theranostics clients. The company manufactures and distributes calibration and reference standards for nuclear pharmacies, SPECT/PET imaging systems, and industrial calibration applications under its RadQual brand.
