Rajant Corporation has acquired The Bellwether Group, combining Rajant’s communications, edge computing and autonomous systems technology with Bellwether’s national-security expertise, applied research capabilities and access to highly classified government environments.
The acquisition is intended to help Rajant translate its technology into operational solutions for defense and national-security customers.
Bellwether brings a Top Secret facility clearance, highly cleared personnel and experience supporting sensitive government missions.
The combination will allow Rajant to pursue portions of the federal market requiring specialized clearances and mission expertise while increasing its ability to recruit cleared technical personnel.
Bellwether founder and CEO Tim Teal will join Rajant as Chief Mission & Capability Officer and report directly to Rajant CEO and co-founder Robert J. Schena.
Teal’s previous roles include leadership positions with the U.S. Navy, National Security Agency, U.S. Cyber Command and Cyber National Mission Force.
At Cyber Command, Teal served as Technical Director and founded the organization that developed into its J9 directorate. At CNMF, he led the establishment of an organization bringing together J6, J8 and J9 functions.
Bellwether COO and co-founder Dr. Shana Teal will become Rajant’s Chief Scientist and lead applied research connecting emerging technology and human-behavioral insights with mission requirements.
Rajant also expects technology developed for demanding defense environments to support products in mining, transportation, industrial autonomy and other mission-critical commercial markets.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
