Raymond James Unveils ‘Rai,’ A Proprietary AI Operations Agent For Internal Q&A And Process Support

Raymond James has launched a proprietary digital AI operations agent called Rai, expanding the firm’s long-term artificial intelligence strategy with a new internal tool designed to deliver fast, curated answers to operational questions. The agent uses natural language processing and generative AI to respond in plain language, drawing on multiple Raymond James knowledge bases and adapting over time based on user activity and preferences.

The company described Rai as an interactive, question-and-answer generative AI chat experience that consolidates insights from firm systems and policies to support decision-making while keeping humans in the loop. According to Raymond James, the agent is built to learn a user’s role, responsibilities, and entitlements to deliver more personalized guidance. After a pilot phase, Rai is set to roll out to specific business units first, with broader, enterprise-wide availability planned for the coming quarters.

Raymond James also positioned the launch as part of a broader suite of AI-driven tools already in use across the firm. Recent upgrades cited by the company include AI support for CRM note-taking and next-step identification; Zoom meeting summaries integrated with CRM to generate activities and draft recap emails; generative AI search for internal knowledge databases; and secure access to tools such as ChatGPT Enterprise and Microsoft Copilot. The firm said utilization remains strong, noting more than 10,000 regular users of conversational AI and AI-assisted code generation, with total lines of code per month under developer oversight at roughly 3.2 million.

The launch comes as Raymond James continues what it describes as a $1.1 billion annual technology investment to apply emerging capabilities across the enterprise while maintaining its relationship-driven business model. Raymond James Financial, Inc., a NYSE-listed diversified financial services company, reported total client assets of $1.77 trillion.
