RealCold, a rapidly growing cold chain solutions provider, announced the acquisition of SCL Cold Chain, a Dallas-based logistics company specializing in temperature-controlled supply chains for pharmaceuticals, medical devices, wine, and specialty foods. The transaction marks RealCold’s entry into chain-of-custody pharmaceutical logistics while expanding the range of services available across its national cold chain network.
Founded in 2022, RealCold has focused on delivering customized cold chain solutions for food producers, retailers, and distributors. Through the acquisition, the company adds SCL’s pharmaceutical logistics expertise, including continuous temperature monitoring, FDA-registered facilities, and end-to-end cold chain custody capabilities. The deal also brings CEIV Pharma certification to RealCold’s platform, complementing the company’s existing FSMA and SQF certifications across more than 61 million cubic feet of temperature-controlled storage space and over 180,000 pallet positions nationwide.
The companies noted that the transaction aligns organizations with similar customer-focused operating philosophies. RealCold gains specialized expertise in pharmaceutical cold chain management, while SCL receives access to a larger national infrastructure and resources to expand its services beyond the Dallas-Fort Worth market.
RealCold said the combined platform will provide pharmaceutical manufacturers with greater access to compliant, temperature-controlled logistics services for medications, biologics, vaccines, and clinical trial materials. Food, produce, wine, and specialty product customers are also expected to benefit from expanded warehousing capacity, fulfillment services, and logistics capabilities.
Following the acquisition, SCL Cold Chain will continue operating under its existing corporate identity as part of the RealCold organization.
