ReCode Therapeutics has secured new funding from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and entered a research collaboration with an undisclosed gene editing company to develop potential genetic medicines for cystic fibrosis.
The clinical-stage biotechnology company also completed a leadership transition, with Heather Clark becoming CEO and former CEO Shehnaaz Suliman moving into the role of executive chair of the board.
The new collaboration will focus on developing a gene editing therapy designed to correct mutations in the CFTR gene, the underlying genetic cause of cystic fibrosis.
ReCode will contribute its Selective Organ Targeting lipid nanoparticle delivery platform, while its partner will provide the gene editing technology. The companies plan to jointly advance one or more candidates toward clinical development and commercialization.
ReCode is also advancing RCT2100, an inhaled mRNA therapy for cystic fibrosis. The program received Fast Track designation from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in February 2026.
Its fully enrolled Phase 2a study remains underway, with data expected during the fourth quarter.
Clark joined ReCode in 2022 and previously served as Senior Vice President and Head of the Cystic Fibrosis Franchise and Program Management Office.
She brings nearly 30 years of rare-disease drug development experience, including more than two decades at Vertex Pharmaceuticals, where she helped discover and develop five FDA-approved cystic fibrosis therapies.
