Recon Analytics announced it has acquired Atom Insights, a device market intelligence firm with operations in Canada and India, strengthening its capabilities in global device analytics and expanding its reach across more than 40 countries. The transaction, disclosed on March 16, 2026, did not include financial terms.

As part of the acquisition, Atom Insights founder Hanish Bhatia will join Recon Analytics as Vice President of Device Intelligence. He previously served as Associate Director at Counterpoint Research, where he spent seven years covering global smartphone and device markets. All employees across Recon’s Canada, U.S., and India device intelligence operations will report to Bhatia.

The deal integrates Atom Insights’ device shipment, sell-through, and component-level intelligence into Recon’s customer research platform. This combination is designed to create an end-to-end intelligence service spanning from semiconductor components to end-user experience and subscriber sentiment. Atom Insights brings model-level tracking across more than 40 countries, covering over 400 device OEMs and more than 25 semiconductor vendors across smartphones, tablets, wearables, and PCs.

The combined offering will enhance Recon’s ability to link hardware configurations with customer satisfaction and business outcomes. Atom Insights’ data will integrate with Recon’s Pulse service, which collects insights from more than 15,000 U.S. telecom consumers and up to 1,200 telecom businesses each week, as well as thousands of AI users and airline travelers. The data will also be deployed across Recon’s three-tier AI architecture, including Ghost Lab, Recon Enclave, and the Reconnaissance Platform, enabling advanced analytics, simulation, and decision support for enterprise clients.

The acquisition extends its analytical frameworks into the device value chain, positioning the company to provide deeper insights into how device components, configurations, and distribution channels influence customer satisfaction, churn, and carrier economics.

KEY QUOTES:

“We have spent four years building the customer insights infrastructure that the U.S. telecommunications industry runs on. We built this platform deliberately, like a puzzle, with a connector piece already designed for exactly this moment. We can measure what subscribers experience across 22 dimensions of satisfaction matched to their specific handset hardware, and we know what is inside those devices. What we needed was someone who could tell us how many of them shipped, through which channels, and across which markets. Atom Insights and Hanish Bhatia are the piece we built the that connector for,”

Roger Entner, Analyst And Founder Of Recon Analytics

“The analytical frameworks we have built over four years transfer across industries and geographies. The device value chain is the natural next frontier, and we intend to keep building.”

Roger Entner, Analyst And Founder Of Recon Analytics

“Recon is the only firm that can show how a specific handset performs on customer satisfaction matched to real hardware IDs, and tell clients what to do about it. Combining that with Atom Insights’ supply-side data creates a device analytics capability that does not exist anywhere else.”

Hanish Bhatia, Founder Of Atom Insights And Incoming Vice President Of Device Intelligence At Recon Analytics

“Atom Insights lets us answer which device configurations drive satisfaction, which component choices create churn risk, and how OEM decisions ripple through carrier economics,”
