RedBird Capital Partners and Sound Ventures have formed a strategic partnership that will deploy $1 billion in investment capital into emerging companies at the intersection of technology, media, and culture.
The partnership combines RedBird’s institutional investment platform, global network, and company-building capabilities with Sound Ventures’ relationships with technology founders and experience investing in artificial intelligence and other emerging technology companies.
RedBird will also contribute the capabilities of RedBird X, its dedicated AI investment and incubation platform. RedBird X will work alongside Sound Ventures on areas including investment diligence, portfolio support, and helping companies expand their operations.
Sound Ventures, co-founded by Guy Oseary, has previously invested in technology companies including Anthropic and OpenAI. The firms said the new partnership will focus on backing companies that can become significant platforms as technology increasingly intersects with media, entertainment, and culture.
RedBird Capital Partners was founded in 2014 by Gerry Cardinale and manages more than $21 billion in assets. The private investment firm focuses primarily on sports, media and entertainment, and financial services while providing strategic capital and operational support to portfolio companies.
The firms expect the partnership to leverage RedBird’s institutional resources and global relationships while giving Sound additional capital and operating capabilities to support founders as their businesses scale.
The $1 billion initiative significantly expands the firms’ ability to pursue technology and AI investments while giving portfolio companies strategic resources beyond capital.
RedBird and Sound said their approaches align around high-conviction investing and close collaboration with founders.
