Redpanda Buys Oxla And Launches Agentic Data Plane For AI Governance

By Amit Chowdhry • Oct 29, 2025

Redpanda, a leading real-time data platform for the agentic enterprise, announced the acquisition of Oxla, a distributed SQL query engine and database, alongside the launch of its Agentic Data Plane (ADP), a new infrastructure suite designed to securely govern data access for AI agents across enterprise environments.

The ADP integrates Redpanda Streaming, Redpanda Connect, and Oxla’s SQL capabilities to create a unified data layer enabling traceability, observability, and compliance for AI-driven automation. It supports multiple deployment models — from managed cloud to on-premises and includes standards such as MCP, A2A, SQL, and Iceberg for interoperability.

The Agentic Data Plane empowers organizations to connect and govern AI agents that interact with enterprise data across public and private systems, ensuring real-time insights, access controls, and data protection.

KEY QUOTES:

“AI agents have made initial inroads to the private networks of the modern enterprise. However, organizations today don’t have an easy, integrated way to observe, control, and govern data access for agents. The Agentic Data Plane provides the very necessary MCP aware connectivity, access control, and governance for enterprise AI. And with the acquisition of Oxla, we can now give agents a standard SQL endpoint for agents to query data in motion or at rest.”

Alex Gallego, CEO and Founder, Redpanda

“At Poolside, we’re building toward a future where enterprises can deploy agents at scale—with real-time, permissioned access to streaming data from anywhere, securely within their own firewall. Redpanda’s Agentic Data Plane helps make that possible. Our agents are designed for our customers’ most critical work, and we’re partnering with Redpanda because they share our commitment to trust, security, and auditability without compromise.”

Eiso Kant, Co-CEO and Co-Founder, Poolside

“We are excited to partner with Redpanda’s Agentic Data Plane solution as the preferred delivery provider to build and enable the Agentic Enterprise. AI agents are quickly changing how software is built and delivered, creating a massive opportunity but also risk when working with private enterprise data. Our combined capabilities accelerate the adoption of agents with reliable and safe access to data.”
