Redwire announced a $15 million follow-on order from the 1st Aviation Brigade at the U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence (AVCOE) for its Stalker uncrewed aerial systems (UAS), further expanding the company’s role in military drone training and battlefield readiness programs.
The latest award marks the third order Redwire has received from the 1st Aviation Brigade, AVCOE over the last eight months, bringing the total value of recent orders to approximately $24.8 million.
Under the agreement, the Stalker systems will be delivered to the 2nd Battalion, 13th Aviation Regiment at Fort Huachuca to support advanced individual training for the Army’s 15-series Military Occupational Specialty Tactical Unmanned Aircraft System Specialists. The evolving role combines drone operator and maintainer responsibilities, with a focus on reconnaissance, surveillance, and target acquisition missions conducted alongside ground forces.
The Stalker platform was designed using a Modular Open Systems Approach, enabling rapid payload replacement and system upgrades while lowering lifecycle costs and improving interoperability. According to Redwire, the Army’s continued investment in the Stalker program reflects confidence in the platform’s ability to support current and future battlefield requirements.
Steve Adlich, President of Redwire Defense Tech, said the Stalker system was developed to support multiple mission needs while helping strengthen the Army’s ability to identify and track threats across different operational environments. Adlich also emphasized the importance of individualized “train the trainer” programs in preparing personnel for changing battlefield conditions.
Redwire noted that its training programs are based on operational lessons gathered from hundreds of thousands of flight hours across six continents, including real-world mission experience supporting the U.S. Army and allied programs. Beyond AVCOE, the company provides UAS training support for the U.S. Department of Defense, federal civilian agencies, Five Eyes alliance partners, NATO, and allied international customers.
The company specializes in uncrewed aircraft systems, advanced optics, and resilient energy technologies for government and civilian operations worldwide. Redwire currently employs approximately 1,400 people across North America and Europe.
