Reed Smith: Ian Hohmeister Named Inaugural Managing Partner Of Boston Office

By Amit Chowdhry • Apr 23, 2026

Reed Smith announced that finance partner Ian Hohmeister has been appointed as the inaugural office managing partner of its Boston location.

The appointment comes shortly after the firm opened its Boston office in March as its 34th global office and 21st in the United States. The office launched with transactional, regulatory, and advisory capabilities focused on serving private equity and growth equity sponsors, financial institutions, and fund managers.

Reed Smith has already expanded the Boston office, adding a six-lawyer litigation team in April to enhance its capabilities in class actions, commercial disputes, and employment counseling, particularly across consumer goods, retail, and financial services sectors.

Hohmeister brings experience advising banks and private credit providers on financing transactions across fintech, digital assets, technology, and life sciences sectors, including both domestic and cross-border deals. The firm said his expertise in digital assets and innovation aligns with its strategy to position the Boston office at the forefront of evolving market trends.

The appointment reflects Reed Smith’s broader effort to scale its presence in key U.S. markets and expand its capabilities in high-growth sectors.
