Relation Insurance Services announced that it has acquired the assets of Rummel Associates, expanding the brokerage firm’s presence in the Chicago area and adding additional expertise across commercial and personal insurance. The transaction became effective January 31, 2025. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Founded in 1948, Rummel Associates provides insurance solutions for both businesses and individuals and has built longstanding relationships with clients across the Chicago region. Following the transaction, the firm’s Chicago office will continue operating under the leadership of owner Jared Rummel, who will remain with the business as part of the Relation organization.
Relation Insurance Services said the acquisition strengthens its ability to deliver customized coverage options by combining Rummel’s local expertise with Relation’s broader carrier network and national resources.
Based in Chicago, Relation Insurance Services is an insurance brokerage firm providing risk management and benefits consulting services across the United States. The company has approximately 1,350 employees across more than 100 locations nationwide and is ranked among the top 25 largest agencies in the country by revenue, according to Insurance Journal. Relation is backed by private equity firm Aquiline Capital Partners.
The acquisition aligns with Relation’s ongoing strategy to expand its geographic footprint and industry expertise through partnerships with insurance entrepreneurs.
