Remitly Global announced the appointment of Adam Messinger to its Board of Directors, expanding the board from 10 to 11 members as the company continues to scale its global financial services platform.

Messinger will also join the Board’s Talent and Compensation Committee, bringing deep experience in software development and platform scaling to support Remitly’s next phase of growth.

The appointment comes as Remitly evolves beyond its core cross-border money transfer business into a broader suite of financial services offerings. The company is focused on strengthening its technology leadership as it expands its capabilities for both consumers and businesses worldwide.

Messinger brings more than 20 years of experience in engineering leadership and product development. He previously served as Chief Technology Officer at Twitter, where he oversaw engineering, product, and design during a period of rapid global growth. Earlier in his career, he held senior roles at Oracle, contributing to the development of the Java platform and other enterprise technologies, and most recently served as a technology advisor to Chime.

Remitly operates a global money movement platform spanning more than 175 countries and continues to expand its offerings as it positions itself as a diversified cross-border financial services provider.

KEY QUOTES:

“We are thrilled to welcome Adam to Remitly’s Board at such a pivotal moment for the company. Adam’s experience as a public company director at New Relic, combined with his deep technical expertise and experience scaling world-class technologies, will be instrumental as we expand beyond global money movement to better serve our customers with a broader suite of financial services.”

Sebastian Gunningham, Chief Executive Officer, Remitly

“Remitly is doing what the best consumer technology companies do, identifying a deeply underserved customer base to offer a better product at a fraction of the cost. The cross-border payments market is massive and still largely offline, the shift to digital is accelerating, and Remitly is well-positioned to capture it. I’m thrilled to join the Board at what feels like a very early chapter of a much bigger story.”
