REMspace: Interview With CEO Michael Raduga About The Sleep Technology Company

By Amit Chowdhry • Yesterday at 9:32 AM

REMspace is a California-based sleep technology company that develops hardware and software to facilitate lucid dreaming, pioneering research and technology for two-way communication between people while they are dreaming. They focus on enabling users to control virtual environments and exchange messages, such as words or melodies, during REM sleep. Pulse 2.0 interviewed REMspace CEO Michael Raduga.

Michael Raduga’s Background

Michael Raduga

Could you tell me more about your background? Raduga said:

“I was born in Siberia, and from a very young age, I became fascinated by sleep, dreams, and altered states of consciousness. As a teenager, I began experiencing and deliberately exploring lucid dreams, sleep paralysis, and REM-related phenomena. What started as personal curiosity quickly became a serious intellectual pursuit.”

“I’ve dedicated the past two decades of my life to researching REM sleep and lucid dreaming. I’ve written 15 books on these subjects, many of which have been translated into numerous languages, and I’ve conducted many studies published in peer-reviewed journals.”

“I am the founder and CEO of REMspace, where I lead one of the leading labs in the field of REM sleep and lucid dreaming. This work represents a natural continuation of that lifelong journey.”

Formation Of The Company

How did the idea for the company come together? Raduga shared:

“REMspace grew out of a simple realization: lucid dreaming is not just a curiosity or a niche practice—it is an untapped human capability with enormous potential. For many years, I worked in education and research, helping people better understand and work with their sleep, including REM-related phenomena. Over time, it became clear to me that technology could dramatically accelerate, standardize, and democratize this process while significantly improving sleep quality.”

“After moving to the United States, I gained access to a much broader technological, scientific and entrepreneurial ecosystem. I founded REMspace to move sleep enhancement and REM research from theory and isolated practices into a structured, scalable, and scientifically grounded technological framework. At a deeper level, I believe REMspace has the potential to revolutionize civilization. This conviction drives us to develop new technologies and services and to position ourselves as pioneers in this emerging field.”

Core Products

LucidMe

What are the company’s core products and features? Raduga explained:

“At REMspace, we are building a comprehensive platform focused on REM sleep, sleep quality improvement, and conscious dreaming—not just for tracking sleep, but for actively improving it.”

“Over time, REMspace has undergone a strategic transformation toward a deeper integration of AI into sleep technologies. We are currently building on this by developing the LucidMe Pro mask, powered by our proprietary SomnoAI interface. SomnoAI represents a new AI trained on sleep-stimulus data, enabling the real-time interpretation and modulation of sleep to support deeper rest, faster sleep onset, guided relaxation, dream experience modulation, and other advanced sleep-enhancement capabilities. The LucidMe Pro mask will incorporate advanced sensors, including EEG and eye-movement tracking, unlocking functionality far beyond standard wearable sleep trackers.”

“In early 2025, REMspace introduced the LucidMe mask—then the most advanced smart sleep mask on the market—which combines a sleek design with powerful AI-driven technology in a single wearable device. The product served as a strong example of REMspace’s ability to design, build, and launch sophisticated consumer-facing sleep technology.”

“Earlier, we also launched the LucidMe app, the first social media platform dedicated to sharing dreams and matching dream experiences with users worldwide, further expanding REMspace into a connected global sleep and dreaming platform.”

Challenges Faced

Have you faced any challenges in your sector of work recently, and how did you overcome them? Raduga acknowledged:

“The biggest challenge is that we are working in a field that is still ahead of mainstream acceptance. Lucid dreaming is often misunderstood or dismissed, despite strong scientific evidence supporting its existence and potential applications.”

“Another major challenge is that the vast majority of AI’s potential in sleep remains unrealized. Today, roughly 99% of what AI could do for sleep is still unrealized. Unlocking that potential requires highly specific technologies and datasets that mainstream AI companies simply don’t have.”

“We have overcome these challenges by building our own specialized hardware, collecting proprietary sleep-stimulus data, and developing AI systems designed specifically for REM sleep. With our upcoming smart sleep mask, SomnoAI is positioned to become indispensable for millions of people. I believe that within the next five years, devices like our mask will be as common as smartphones—almost everyone will have one and rely on it daily.”

Funding/Revenue

Are you able to discuss funding metrics? Raduga revealed:

“By 2025, we raised $1.5 million in seed funding, supported primarily by lucid dreaming practitioners and enthusiasts across Europe, with additional funding planned in the near future. This funding enabled us to expand our research, engineering, and product development efforts.”

“The capital is being used to develop REMspace’s software and hardware, including our smart sleep mask, which is designed to support lucid dreaming, faster sleep onset, gentle awakening, improved dream recall, and snoring prevention. We also expanded our team, hiring 15 new employees, including 10 engineers.”

Differentiation From The Competition

What differentiates the company from its competition? Raduga affirmed:

“Most sleep technology companies focus on passive tracking and retrospective data analysis. REMspace takes a fundamentally different approach by focusing on active sleep improvement, especially during the REM stage.”

“What sets us apart is the combination of deep expertise in REM sleep research and proprietary AI-driven technology designed to interact with sleep in real time. Through our SomnoAI interface and neuro-responsive devices, we aim to improve sleep onset, reduce sleep disruptions, support restorative rest, and enhance overall sleep quality while also enabling deeper engagement with dream states when appropriate.”

“Rather than adding features to existing sleep trackers, we are building a dedicated AI-powered platform specifically designed to support healthier, more restorative sleep and unlock the full potential of REM sleep for both wellbeing and performance.”

Future Company Goals

What are some of the company’s future goals? Raduga concluded:

“REM sleep is the next big frontier after AI.”

“Our long-term goal is to lead this frontier by revolutionizing the sleep and neurotechnology industry, making conscious interaction with REM sleep as reliable and accessible as today’s digital experiences. This includes real-time interaction with dreams, AI-guided sleep and dream environments, and practical applications that support creativity, learning, mental health, recovery, and self-exploration.”

“Beyond products, we intend to expand the scientific understanding of REM sleep and unlock its full potential. We believe this research can fundamentally change the way people live by enabling individuals to achieve more within themselves, improve their wellbeing, and access capabilities that were previously limited to waking life. At REMspace, we aim to turn sleep from a passive state into an active, meaningful part of human development.”
