Fortnite, the co-op action/building sandbox survival game, developed by Epic Games and People Can Fly, has reportedly hit $100 million in revenue on iOS devices alone in the last 90 days, according to a report by Sensor Tower. And Epic Games plans to roll out the game for Android later this summer. It is believed that Fortnite hit the $50 million mark in May, largely driven by Season 4 content.
The $100 million mark puts Fortnite in the top 3 fastest growing mobile games alongside Clash Royale and Pokémon Go. As a comparison, Pokémon Go hit $600 million in the first 90 days so it is ahead by a landslide.
Fortnite is currently available for free on PCs, Xbox consoles, the PlayStation 4, the Nintendo Switch and iOS. However, Epic Games generates revenue through in-app purchases.

Fortnites most noteworthy rival, Tencents mobile version of PlayerUnknowns Battlegrounds, is absent from both of the above analyses for two reasons: It has only been monetizing for 60 days and it hasnt reached $100 million in player spending, said Sensor Tower in its report. According to our latest estimates, it has considerable ground to cover, having only grossed about $5.2 million to date on iOS as its publisher works out the best way to monetize its mobile player base. Tencent appears to feel that adopting an objective-based approach similar to Fortnites Battle Pass, calling it a Royale Pass, is one way to close that gap. It just launched today, so well be keeping an eye on how it affects PUBG Mobiles revenue generation.
One of the reasons why Fortnite is growing so quickly is because it is extremely popular on broadcasting games such as Twitch. Fortnite is currently the most viewed game on Twitch. And Epic Games plans to invest $100 million for Fortnite eSports tournament prize pools in the first year of competition.
