Restate Raises $20 Million Series A Led By Singular

Restate raised $20 million in Series A funding led by Singular, bringing the durable execution infrastructure company’s total funding to $27 million. Redpoint Ventures and Capital One Ventures also participated in the round.

Restate plans to use the financing for continued product development and expansion in the U.S., including the opening of a commercial hub in San Francisco.

The company was founded by members of the team behind Apache Flink.

Restate develops durable execution infrastructure designed to help distributed applications and AI agents recover from interruptions while preserving state and workflow progress.

The technology is already used by hundreds of companies.

Restate supports durable execution for Replit Agent and enterprise workflows at companies including DOSS and BILT Rewards.

The company’s architecture is based on a purpose-built distributed log and event-driven orchestrator that combines execution, state, and communication.

Restate does not require an external database or search system.

The company also recently introduced Bring Your Own Cloud, which allows customers to run managed Restate deployments within their own cloud accounts and virtual private clouds.

Restate said the approach is becoming increasingly important as AI agents run longer processes, call external tools, interact with other agents, and need to recover reliably from system failures.

KEY QUOTES:

“Durable execution solved an important problem: it made individual processes reliable. But software is increasingly made up of services, agents, workflows and state that all need to stay reliable as they interact.”

“We believe durability has to become a property of the infrastructure itself.”

Stephan Ewen, CEO and Co-Founder of Restate

“What excites us about Restate is that they are redefining where durable execution can be applied.”
