Revaia has appointed Marc-Étienne Mercadier as Partner, strengthening the European growth investor’s energy transition strategy as it prepares and deploys its debut fund focused on the sector.
Mercadier will co-lead Revaia’s first energy transition fund alongside Jean-Patrice Bellier, who was appointed Partner in late 2025.
The pair will be responsible for building the dedicated investment team and deploying the fund’s strategy across companies focused on decarbonization, resource efficiency, resilience and the broader energy transition.
Mercadier joins Revaia with more than 16 years of experience across private equity, infrastructure and structured finance.
Most recently, he served as Director and Head of Strategy at Eiffel Investment Group, where he created and led the Eiffel Gaz Vert fund beginning in 2020.
During that period, Mercadier deployed more than €500 million of equity across renewable energy, decarbonization and energy-efficiency investments throughout Europe.
He has also been involved in establishing and structuring investment vehicles designed to channel institutional capital into energy transition businesses.
His experience spans investment strategies ranging from early growth through private equity and infrastructure, giving him exposure to different risk profiles, capital structures and stages of company development.
Mercadier has served on multiple investment committees and held board positions at high-growth companies, working with management teams on scaling, financing and strategic development.
Before Eiffel, he worked at Générale du Solaire, where he helped industrialize the Independent Power Producer model and developed financing structures intended to support the company’s expansion.
He began his career in private equity, building expertise in financial structuring and risk analysis within the energy sector.
At Revaia, Mercadier will bring experience across the entire investment lifecycle, including origination, underwriting, portfolio development and exits.
His background also spans equity, structured equity and debt, providing experience with the increasingly complex capital requirements of climate and energy transition companies as they scale.
His expertise is intended to complement Bellier’s approximately 15 years of energy and climate experience, including work advising European industry leaders on decarbonization and growth strategies.
Together, they will lead the development of Revaia’s energy transition investment platform while building on the firm’s existing experience across software and sustainability-oriented innovation.
Mercadier has also contributed to the fundraising of five investment funds during his career.
He holds a Master of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from ESME Sudria and a master’s degree in economics of Sustainable Development, Environment and Energy from IFP School and INSTN.
Revaia invests in growth-stage technology companies and operates from offices in Paris, London, Munich and Berlin, with an additional presence in North America.
Its portfolio includes companies such as Aircall, Ampeco, Coralogix, Deepki, Frontify, Hublo, Intersec, Mews, Planity, Sekoia.io and Synera.

Alongside Jean-Patrice, his track record structuring and scaling energy transition investment vehicles, and his deep understanding of the European energy sector, gives our debut fund exactly the leadership it needs. Together, they will be central to seizing what we see as a landmark investment opportunity: scaling the businesses that will decarbonise Europe’s economy while strengthening its energy independence.”

“Energy transition is one of the most significant investment opportunities of our generation. I am convinced that growth private equity is uniquely positioned to address a critical market need by providing high-impact companies with the capital required to scale, while supporting European and national decarbonisation targets and strengthening Europe’s industrial and energy sovereignty.
