Riverside Insights, a provider of research-backed educational assessments, announced it has acquired Move This World, a behavioral and mental health platform serving PreK–12 school communities. The deal aims to create a more integrated system that connects assessment, instruction, and student support within a unified multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) framework.

The acquisition brings together Riverside Insights’ DESSA system, which focuses on screening, assessment, and progress monitoring of student social and emotional competencies, with Move This World’s multimedia-based instructional programming. The combined offering is designed to help educators identify student needs earlier, align interventions across tiers, and track outcomes more effectively.

By integrating these tools, the company seeks to reduce fragmentation in how schools address behavioral and mental health challenges. The unified system will support universal instruction, targeted interventions, and intensive support while providing district leaders with clearer visibility into implementation and student progress.

Riverside Insights said the move strengthens its ability to address growing mental health and behavioral challenges in schools, while helping educators translate assessment data into actionable instruction. Move This World’s programming will complement Riverside’s assessment capabilities with ready-to-use content for students, staff, and families, requiring minimal preparation for classroom use.

Move This World’s founder and CEO, Sara Potler LaHayne, will join Riverside Insights to lead its behavioral and mental health vertical as part of the acquisition. The company emphasized that the combined platform will help schools build stronger, more cohesive systems to support student development and improve academic outcomes.

KEY QUOTES:

“Districts are facing unprecedented student mental health and behavioral needs while working with limited time and staff. Leaders need systems that help them identify challenges earlier and respond in ways that are both proactive and precise. By extending our capabilities in mental health and behavioral support, we are helping districts connect trusted assessment insight to daily instruction and deliver clearer evidence of impact across their systems.”

Vivek Kartha, CEO of Riverside Insights

“When engaging experiences that help students build emotional and behavioral skills are combined with meaningful insights from assessments, educators gain a clearer understanding of what students need and how to support them. Together, these approaches help schools identify challenges earlier, strengthen the skills students need to succeed, and create learning environments where every student can thrive.”
