- Rockefeller Capital Management announced it appointed Shelly Lazarus and Marty Mannion as the newest independent members of the firm’s board of directors
Rockefeller Capital Management has announced that it has appointed Shelly Lazarus and Marty Mannion as the newest independent members of the firm’s board of directors. Lazarus is the former CEO of Ogilvy & Mather and Mannion is a financial services and healthcare investor who led Summit Partners.
“As we continue our efforts to create a new kind of financial services advisory firm, we are pleased that Shelly and Marty will bring their deep and diverse experiences to our Board,” said Rockefeller Capital Management president and CEO Gregory J. Fleming in a statement. “Shelly’s experience working with some of the world’s biggest and most important brands and Marty’s extensive career in financial services further extends our board’s broad range of insights.”
Along with these additions, the board is now compromised of nine members, including 5 independent directors.
Lazarus is Chairman Emeritus of Ogilvy & Mather. And Lazarus rose through the ranks at Ogilvy over the course of four decades. Then she took on the roles of worldwide CEO in 1996 and Chairman in 1997 while also serving on the boards of Blackstone, General Electric, Merck, FINRA, the World Wildlife Fund, Lincoln Center and the Board of Overseers of Columbia Business School.

Mannion was Managing Director at Summit Partners for more than 30 years after joining the global alternative investment firm in 1985, shortly after it was founded. And Mannion has a track record as a growth-stage investor in the wealth management and registered investment advisor (RIA) industry. He also served as a board director of more than 35 companies including American Dental Partners, Bartlett Nuclear, Employee Benefit Plans, Pharmaco Dynamics Research, Lincare Suburban Ostomy, and Sun Trading. Currently, he is a board director for CareCentrix and Champion Windows.

Rockefeller Capital Management board directors include Rockefeller family members David Rockefeller, Jr., Peter M. O’Neill, John J. Brennan (chairman emeritus and senior advisor of Vanguard), Andrea Jung (CEO of Grameen America), Brian Kaufmann (portfolio manager at Viking Global Investors L.P.), and Lord Paul Myners (a former U.K. government minister), and Fleming.
