Rocket Lawyer is a legal technology company that provides legal information, legal documents, business incorporation services, and access to a network of attorneys for individuals and small-to-medium-sized businesses at an affordable price. Pulse 2.0 interviewed Rocket Lawyer VP of AI Tyler Foreman to learn more.

Tyler Foreman’s Background

Tyler Foreman

Could you tell me more about your background? Foreman said:

“Prior to joining Rocket Lawyer, I spent 4 years at Docusign, where I led product teams primarily delivering AI-powered legal tools to complex, enterprise customers. This included work on Docusign CLM (Contract Life Cycle Management) and, most recently, launching Docusign’s AI Contract Agents, which provided agentic capabilities that streamlined complex workflows for in-house legal teams. Working on these products really highlighted the opportunities that generative AI unlocked in the legal domain.”

“Before Docusign, I spent 4 years at Intel, where I led the technical teams responsible for delivering a product called Intel Geospatial. At the time, Intel had assembled a business around remote sensing hardware (think: drones, autonomous vehicles, robotic sensors, etc). While these capabilities helped our customers collect very rich, highly accurate data in a given physical environment, it was challenging to get all of this data into a useful state for analysis. We built a platform 0-1 that did this and also connected AI analytics to the data so that meaningful, actionable insights could be extracted from the data.”

“Leading up to all this, I have been a startup founder twice (with varying degrees of success) and started my career as a software engineer at companies such as Intel and Agilent Technologies. I also recently completed an M.Sc. in Applied Artificial Intelligence from the University of San Diego. I love to always be learning and improving!”

“At Rocket Lawyer, I lead product management, engineering and design for our AI product portfolio. A large part of my responsibilities is to set and execute on a vision that fulfills Rocket Lawyer’s mission to make access to legal services simple and affordable, and work with the teams to make this a reality. We are at an exciting inflection point where generative AI can make a meaningful difference in how these services are delivered, and we are right at the forefront of this.”

Rocket Lawyer

What are the company’s core products and features? Foreman explained:

“Rocket Lawyer is a company with a deep history in providing access to legal services online, as a pioneer in this space for over 17 years. There is a breadth of services offered by Rocket Lawyer, including self-service legal document drafting, business registrations and filings, trademark services, and e-signature. Rocket Lawyer also makes it easy for anyone to quickly connect with a Legal Pro on the platform to help get guidance on their legal situation.”

”In addition to all of this, we have Rocket Copilot, our new AI-native solution  With Rocket Copilot, small business owners now have one place for every legal need — research legal questions, review contracts, draft legally enforceable documents and connect with legal professionals when a human touch is needed. Rocket Copilot is included in all Rocket Lawyer membership plans, giving every member access to both legal AI and legal professionals to confidently handle any legal situation.”

Differentiation From The Competition

What differentiates the company from its competition? Foreman affirmed:

“These AI capabilities are grounded in over 17 years of legal experience that Rocket Lawyer has built, as well as specialized training overseen by legal experts and attorneys. This enables our AI to provide trusted legal answers and guidance towards solutions that go beyond what is available through a Gen AI service. Our platform doesn’t just answer legal questions; it helps people actually take care of their legal situations, end-to-end. With guidance powered by AI, users can handle filings, stay compliant, and move forward with confidence. And when a situation calls for deeper expertise, they can seamlessly bring a Legal Pro into the conversation. This smooth handoff between Legal AI and experienced Legal Pros makes getting legal help faster, easier, and more affordable than ever before.”

Customer Success Stories

Can you share any specific customer success stories? Foreman highlighted:

“Absolutely. Many of our customers are scrappy, mission-driven founders who rely on Rocket Lawyer to build securely without breaking their budget. Here are a couple of their stories:”

Southern Dwellings and Designs, Inc. – As a first-time business owner, Ayesha Foote, Principal Broker and founder of Southern Dwellings and Designs, Inc., needed trusted legal support from the start. Shortly after launching her firm, a client issue came up, and she didn’t have the time or budget to interview traditional attorneys. She turned to Rocket Lawyer, which has remained a key legal partner for more than four years as she has grown her company into a full-service real estate business. From handling that initial client matter to establishing contracts, protecting her brand and trademarks, and getting timely guidance from licensed attorneys across multiple states, Rocket Lawyer has helped Ayesha safeguard every stage of her business while keeping overhead low. Whether reviewing documents or answering complex questions as they arise, Rocket Lawyer has been the steady, trusted resource that gives her clarity, confidence, and peace of mind as she builds and scales her firm._

Scary Plants Media – As a solo founder working across consulting, nonprofit development, and a highly regulated consumer market, Lesley Nickus needed dependable legal support without traditional overhead. With Rocket Lawyer, she has saved more than $22,000 in legal fees and more than 70 hours of administrative time while successfully forming three entities, including a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and a brand entering New York’s adult-use market. From NDAs and bylaws to brand agreements and on-demand guidance, Rocket Lawyer has given Lesley the legal foundation to grow confidently, protect her work, and move quickly across complex and regulated environments.

Future Company Goals

What are some of the company’s future goals? Foreman emphasized:

“Our goals are closely tied to our mission of democratizing access to legal services for people who may not otherwise be able to afford them, while continuing to responsibly advance our AI capabilities. As we look ahead, we are focused on building smarter, more intuitive tools that make it possible for anyone to confidently navigate any legal situation that may arise.”

“To advance these goals today, Rocket Lawyer helps solopreneurs and small business owners form companies and manage contracts; individuals and families prepare wills, navigate housing or employment issues, manage family changes; and everyday people get quick answers to routine legal questions in key life moments. Our goal is to help even more people get the legal support they need quickly and affordably, with the option to seamlessly connect with a human Legal Pro for further questions and guidance, as needed.”

Vision For AI Transforming Legal Services

What is your vision for how AI will transform legal services in the next 3–5 years? Foreman predicts

“We envision a world where individuals, small businesses, or anyone who needs legal services can come to Rocket Lawyer and solve their legal situation end-to-end. This will be a highly personalized service that continues to expand on the Legal AI + Legal Pro interoperability. This brings data + human legal assistance + AI together to provide a personalized, seamless experience to assist our customers in their legal needs.”

Balancing Long-Term Innovation With Short-Term Deliverables

How do you balance long-term innovation with short-term deliverables in a rapidly evolving AI landscape? Foreman described:

“Having a strong north star vision for how we deliver on our mission allows us to stay anchored in what we see as our destination long-term. This helps identify the bigger picture innovation tracks that we need to invest in. As you said, AI is moving at a pace that has no precedent in the technology industry (or in human history for that matter), so we have to stay nimble in our short-term plans and deliverables. However, by keeping even our short-term objectives anchored to our north star, we are able to make sure that the investments we make are accruing towards fulfilling our vision.”

Culture Goals

What kind of culture do you aim to create in an AI organization? Foreman noted:

“The culture I am working to build in our AI team is one that fosters creativity, rapid innovation, and learning. To achieve this, it is important to create an environment of trust, openness, and safety. This is not always easy, but I find that one way to establish these foundations is to lead by example. I try to be very open and transparent with my team, spend time whiteboarding/brainstorming together, and encourage everyone to constructively challenge each other and give feedback when appropriate. I also like to encourage the celebration of even small wins and recognizing each other when someone goes above and beyond.”

Staying Current

How do you stay current with emerging AI technologies and research? Foreman concluded:

“This is getting harder and harder to do as the pace of AI continues to accelerate! I try to carve out a little time each day to spend reading up on new developments and even read a research paper here and there. To cut through the noise, I follow several thought leaders in the space that I find help curate some of the more important developments day to day and week to week. One particular leader is Andrew Ng – I read the daily and weekly newsletters from him religiously.”
