Rocket One Licenses NASA Avionics Technology To Build AI-Powered Space Mission Platform

Rocket One has entered into a nonexclusive patent license agreement with NASA covering the agency’s Affordable Vehicle Avionics System technology.

The company plans to use the licensed technology as the foundation for an AI-powered software platform supporting spacecraft mission planning, avionics modeling, simulation, testing and engineering workflows.

The agreement gives Rocket One rights to develop and commercialize software, analytical tools and technical processes based on NASA’s patented technology within a defined field of use focused on space-vehicle avionics.

Rocket One intends to offer the platform to commercial launch providers, satellite operators, aerospace companies, defense contractors and government organizations.

The planned software is expected to support launch-readiness assessments, spacecraft mission planning, engineering documentation, avionics analysis, simulation workflows and mission integration.

Rocket One said the platform could use AI to streamline technical decision-making, improve engineering efficiency and accelerate preparations for commercial and national-security space missions.

The NASA license expands Rocket One’s portfolio of AI, semiconductor and space-related intellectual property. The company is also developing advanced computing architectures intended for radiation-tolerant and energy-constrained environments, including low-Earth orbit, deep-space systems and defense applications.

Rocket One’s broader technology portfolio includes rights to a nanomagnetic matrix multiplier architecture designed to accelerate machine-learning and AI workloads, along with related magnetic-memory technology.

The company plans to pursue collaborations with commercial space companies, universities, government organizations and aerospace partners as it develops the new platform.

Its phased commercialization plan includes product architecture, prototype development, market validation, pilot programs and an initial commercial launch.

The licensed technologies remain at an early stage. Rocket One noted that certain technologies in its portfolio have not yet been fabricated as integrated devices, validated in space environments or qualified for commercial or government programs.
