Ropes & Gray has expanded its New York finance bench with the addition of partner Michael P. McGuigan, strengthening the firm’s fund finance and infrastructure development capabilities amid rising client demand in both areas. McGuigan brings more than 20 years of experience advising investment funds and other market participants on a broad range of financing structures.

McGuigan’s practice spans fund finance transactions, including subscription, NAV, and hybrid facilities, as well as asset-backed direct-lending facilities, management company financings, and GP co-investment facilities. He also advises on financings for onshore and offshore evergreen fund products, an area that has grown as managers seek more flexible capital vehicles and longer duration strategies.

In addition to fund finance, McGuigan has deep experience in transportation infrastructure development and finance, having advised project companies and leading airlines on several high-profile U.S. projects. His experience includes the redevelopment of JFK International Airport, LaGuardia Airport, and the World Trade Center.

Firm leadership framed the move as a strategic addition that bolsters the practice’s ability to deliver financing solutions across evolving fund structures while expanding the firm’s infrastructure offering. The hire also comes as the firm marks a milestone year for its New York presence, with leadership pointing to continued momentum and growth in core client-driven practice areas.
