Ropes & Gray announced that Peter Rosen has joined the firm’s New York office as a partner in its Alternative Asset Opportunities group, further strengthening its global secondaries practice amid rapid growth in the market. Rosen’s arrival marks the firm’s 20th lateral partner hire of 2026 and adds experience gained from both private practice and leading investment organizations.
Rosen previously served as in-house counsel and partner at Coller Capital, one of the world’s largest secondaries investors, where he advised on a broad range of sophisticated transactions. His experience includes GP-led fund recapitalizations, limited partner portfolio sales, joint ventures, large primary investments, co-investments, GP stakes transactions, and other complex structures. Prior to joining Coller Capital, he worked in-house at Macquarie, focusing on the firm’s private infrastructure fund business.
Ropes & Gray said Rosen’s perspective as a former investor-side legal leader will enhance its ability to advise sponsors and investors across the United States and Europe. The firm’s secondaries practice is ranked Band 1 by Chambers Global for Investor Representation and has been named the top legal advisor by Secondaries Investor four times. In 2025, the practice completed more than 600 secondaries transactions.
Rosen’s arrival follows a series of strategic hires across Ropes & Gray’s private capital platform, including additions in regulatory, tax, litigation, and fund formation practices. The firm said these investments underscore its commitment to providing clients with leading talent and capabilities across the private markets landscape.
