Ropes & Gray announced that Amanda McGrady Morrison will return to the firm as a partner and co-leader of its global Private Capital Transactions practice effective December 1. Morrison rejoins the firm after serving as General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer at Advent International for the past three years, marking a significant leadership addition for the firm’s private capital platform.

During her tenure at Advent, a major private equity investor and longtime Ropes & Gray client, Morrison played a central role in guiding the firm through a period of rapid expansion. Advent manages more than $100 billion in assets under management and has completed 435 investments across 44 countries. As a Boston-based Managing Director and member of Advent’s Business Operations Leadership Team, Morrison oversaw the global legal function and supported the firm’s continued growth. She will continue serving as interim external General Counsel at Advent for a transitional period.

Before joining Advent, Morrison spent 14 years at Ropes & Gray, serving in several leadership roles, including head of the firm’s private equity transactions practice. Her return brings extensive dealmaking experience and long-standing familiarity with the firm’s clients and operations.

The firm emphasized that Morrison’s background positions her to help clients navigate the evolving private capital environment and support expanding transaction activity. Advent leadership also expressed appreciation for her contributions during her time at the firm. Morrison will be based in Ropes & Gray’s Boston office.
