Routeware, a provider of AI-powered waste and environmental services technology, has acquired PermiServ, a UK-based leader in garden waste permit management for local authorities. The deal strengthens Routeware’s presence in the United Kingdom and expands its ability to support councils with integrated, end-to-end service platforms.

The acquisition brings together Routeware’s SmartCity platform, which focuses on route optimization, fleet management, and data-driven service delivery, with PermiServ’s specialized capabilities in subscription-based garden waste permitting, administration, and resident communications. By combining these offerings, the companies aim to deliver a more unified system that connects permitting, routing, compliance workflows, and customer engagement.

Routeware currently serves more than 100 UK local authorities and has been increasing investment in the region. The addition of PermiServ enhances its reach at a key interaction point between councils and residents, particularly in managing subscription services from enrollment through collection and reporting.

PermiServ will continue operating with its existing team and maintaining current customer relationships. The combined organization plans to focus on improving system integrations, reducing manual processes, enhancing compliance and reporting tools, and strengthening transparency in local government service delivery.

Routeware, headquartered in Austin, Texas, serves municipalities and waste service providers across North America and the UK, offering solutions that improve operational efficiency, safety, and sustainability outcomes. PermiServ has built a strong presence in the UK by helping councils manage garden waste programs with streamlined administrative and logistical support.
