Royer Labs: Acquisition Of Undertone Audio Expands Professional Recording Equipment Portfolio

Royer Labs announced it has acquired Undertone Audio, a manufacturer of high-end recording equipment, expanding its footprint in the professional audio market and strengthening its product portfolio.

Undertone Audio, founded by record producer Eric Valentine and engineer Larry Jasper, is best known for its UnFairchild compressor, a modern reinterpretation of a classic tube compressor design. The company also produces a range of premium audio equipment, including microphone preamplifiers, console equalizers, and software plugins used in professional recording environments.

Following the acquisition, Undertone Audio will operate from Royer Labs’ headquarters in Burbank, California. Royer plans to leverage its global distribution network to expand Undertone’s international presence while continuing to invest in product development and innovation.

The acquisition aligns with the broader strategy of Sounds Great Holdings, Royer Labs’ parent company, which is focused on building a portfolio of high-quality brands in the professional audio industry. The transaction marks the second acquisition under Sounds Great Holdings following its purchase of Royer Labs in March 2026.

Undertone’s founders will remain involved in the business, supporting continuity in product development and maintaining the brand’s focus on high-performance audio equipment.

The deal reflects continued consolidation within the professional audio sector as companies seek to combine complementary technologies and expand global reach.
