Ryde Group announced the appointment of James Tan as chief product officer as the company looks to accelerate platform innovation, marketplace optimization, and product-led growth initiatives.

Founded in Singapore, Ryde operates a mobility and quick commerce platform that includes carpooling, private hire, taxi, and delivery services. The company said Tan will oversee end-to-end product strategy as it advances the next phase of its growth.

Tan brings more than 12 years of experience in product management, design, and digital platform development, including over eight years at Ryde. During his tenure, he led cross-functional teams across engineering, operations, customer experience, marketing, and business development, helping improve marketplace performance and user experience.

The company noted that Tan played a key role in building and scaling Ryde into Singapore’s first ride-hailing company to list on the NYSE American. Ryde also credited him with helping drive more than 70% growth in Ryde+ subscriptions within three months through enhancements focused on user engagement, subscription optimization, and overall platform experience.

Over the next 12 months, Ryde plans to focus on several product priorities under Tan’s leadership, including smarter driver job allocation, enhanced marketplace matching powered by machine learning, upgraded operational tools for drivers, rider personalization and loyalty features, and expanded platform analytics capabilities.

The company said these initiatives are intended to improve ride match rates, reduce average rider wait times, strengthen driver retention, and increase overall platform engagement.

Ryde differentiates itself from competitors through its driver-first, 0% commission model, which the company says supports stronger driver retention and long-term marketplace sustainability.
