Salesforce, the world’s leading AI CRM platform, announced that it has officially completed its acquisition of Informatica, a prominent enterprise AI-powered cloud data-management company. The transaction, valued at approximately $8 billion in equity, brings Informatica’s extensive portfolio of data catalog, integration, governance, quality, privacy, metadata management, and master data management services into the Salesforce ecosystem.
With this acquisition, Salesforce aims to embed Informatica’s data capabilities into its “Agentforce 360” platform, creating a unified data foundation that enables AI agents to operate at enterprise scale, backed by trusted data context. Salesforce Chair & CEO Marc Benioff stated, “When companies get their data right, they get their AI right, and Agentforce becomes unstoppable.”
Under the agreement, Informatica’s technology, including its data integration, data-quality, governance, and unified-metadata stack, will be rapidly integrated into Salesforce’s Data 360 pipeline and ecosystem, enabling deeper insights and greater autonomy across AI-driven workflows. This includes combining Informatica’s capabilities with Salesforce’s MuleSoft and Tableau platforms to deliver richer, context-aware analytics and full-cycle integration.
Informatica will continue its mission under Salesforce’s ownership to help organisations connect, manage, and unify AI-ready data, while supporting an ecosystem of partners and applications. Informatica CEO Amit Walia commented that joining forces with Salesforce allowed them “to drastically accelerate our mission as the ‘Switzerland’ of AI-powered data management.”
On the financial front, Salesforce expects the acquisition to drive accretion on a non-GAAP operating margin and non-GAAP earnings-per-share basis within 12 months of closing, a full year ahead of the initially announced timeline.
