- CRM leader Salesforce announced it is donating $1.5 million to the City of San Francisco’s Give2SF fund in order to support its emergency response to COVID-19 (coronavirus)
Salesforce, the global leader in Customer Relationship Management (CRM), announced it is donating $1.5 million to the City of San Francisco’s Give2SF fund in order to support its emergency response to COVID-19 (coronavirus). Plus Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff joined 170 California business leaders to request that the State of California offer free drive-thru or walk-up COVID-19 testing in every county.
The CEOs of Segment, Twist Bioscience, Zoom, Slack, Thumbtack, Brex, Lime, Postmates, DoorDash, Lambda School, Goop, Pilot, Box, Superhuman, Opendoor, Airship, MasterClass, Grammarly, GoFundMe, Dropbox, Lively, 6sense, Bloomreach, Menlo Security, Cameo, Lattice, Calm, AllTurtles, and Udacity also signed the letter.
Salesforce also revealed it is now strongly encouraging all employees across Argentina, Australia, India, Mexico, and New Zealand to work remotely. The company made this decision based on guidance from local leaders and governments and in service to protecting its employees, families, and communities. During this time, Salesforce is going to continue paying its vendor hourly service providers.
To also advocate social distancing, Salesforce switched its Connections, Higher Ed Summit series along with Salesforce World Tours and Basecamps events to virtual experiences. And World Tour Toronto and World Tour London will be postponed this year.
“As the coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to spread around the world, we have a heightened awareness at Salesforce of our responsibility to our employees, customers, and partners during this important time. Each one of us has a role to play in preparing ourselves and our families for potential disruptions, and upholding our civic duty to help prevent further outbreaks. If we each do our part, we can help lessen the risk for everyone. We can save lives,” wrote Salesforce president & chief legal officer Amy Weaver earlier this month in an announcement. “While this is a developing situation, we are implementing initial safety precautions for the month of March, including prohibiting cross border travel, restricting all but the most critical domestic travel, replacing our in-person customer events with digital experiences, and enhancing our office protocols to ensure we provide the healthiest work environment possible. We are monitoring the situation around the clock and will continue to update our approach as information becomes available from the World Health Organization, Centers for Disease Control, and local authorities.”
