Salesforce has hired Doug Camplejohn as the head of its Sales Cloud platform. Camplejohn is joining Salesforce from LinkedIn where he worked as the VP of Product Management, Sales Solutions.
At LinkedIn, Camplejohn oversaw the Sales Navigator tool, which enables sales teams to find prospects on the professional social network. While at Salesforce, he will have a similar role in overseeing Salesforce Sales Cloud. Sales Cloud is Salesforce’s largest product and it has the leading position in the customer relationship management market. And the Salesforce Sales Cloud platform includes apps for lead generation, customer service, business intelligence, integrated marketing, etc.
Camplejohn originally joined LinkedIn in 2015. He joined LinkedIn after the social network company bought his startup Fliptop in 2015. Fliptop is a company that provided businesses with apps that would help them close more sales through the use of predictive analytics.
LinkedIn Sr. Director Product Management, Sales Solutions and Enterprise Platform Lindsey Edwards is becoming the head of product for Sales Solutions at the professional social network company going forward, according to CNBC.
Before launching Fliptop, Camplejohn also founded companies like Mi5 Networks (acquired by Symantec for $18 million) and Myplay (acquired by Bertelsmann). Camplejohn also worked as the VP of Marketing at Epiphany between 1997 and 1998 and as the QuickTime Product Manager at Apple between 1988 and 1992.
The Salesforce Sales Cloud platform hit $1.17 billion in revenue for the quarter ended October 31 — which is up 15% year-over-year and accounts for 26% of the company’s total revenue. Salesforce has been diversifying its revenue sources with other platforms like the Service Cloud business. And Salesforce acquired MuleSoft in 2018 and Tableau last year.
Camplejohn is succeeding Adam Blitzer, EVP & GM of Marketing Cloud, Commerce Cloud, and Community Cloud at Salesforce. Blitzer had been the interim general manager of Sales Cloud for the last few months.
