Salesforce has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Rune Technologies, an edge-native technology company that develops logistics and sustainment software for the U.S. military and allied nations.
Rune Technologies builds systems that help frontline teams forecast supply requirements, optimize resources, and make operational decisions in denied, degraded, intermittent, or limited-connectivity environments.
The acquisition is intended to expand Salesforce’s Missionforce portfolio with purpose-built super intelligence capabilities for tactical logistics.
Rune’s technology connects information from enterprise systems with real-time operational data, helping military logisticians and commanders coordinate personnel, equipment, supplies, maintenance, transportation, and other mission-critical resources even when reliable network access is unavailable.
Salesforce said the acquisition would complement Missionforce Operations, which automates complex enterprise processes across defense organizations.
By adding Rune’s capabilities, Salesforce plans to create a broader edge-to-enterprise architecture connecting frontline decisions with enterprise workflows and systems of record.
Rune’s platform includes situational intelligence, simulation, and optimization models that can forecast demand and resupply requirements, recommend resource allocation and transportation routes, and allow military teams to evaluate logistics plans before and during operational execution.
The technology can continue operating in DDIL environments and synchronize information once connectivity is restored.
Rune Technologies is already deployed with the U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps.
David Tuttle and Peter Goldsborough founded the company in 2024 after holding leadership roles at Anduril. Rune’s broader team includes military veterans and senior technologists focused on sustainment and frontline logistics challenges.
The acquisition would represent Salesforce’s most significant national security-focused transaction to date.
Salesforce said its defense business is growing 80% year over year one year after the launch of Missionforce, with customers across all six branches of the U.S. military.
The company also recently secured a 10-year U.S. Army contract with a ceiling of $5.6 billion to support modernization initiatives.
Salesforce sees Rune as a way to extend Missionforce from enterprise and strategic headquarters environments to the operational edge, enabling military organizations to maintain consistent records and workflows across garrison, forward-deployed, and disconnected environments.
The transaction is expected to close during the fourth quarter of Salesforce’s fiscal 2027, subject to customary closing conditions.
