Saltz, a Vilnius-based digital marketplace for the food supply industry, has raised €20 million in Series A funding to accelerate expansion across Europe and further develop technology for cross-border food trade.

The funding round includes support from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Inovo, Lifeline Ventures, and Change Ventures. Additional backing came from strategic angel investors including Mantas Mikuckas, founder of Vinted, Miki Kuusi, founder of Wolt, several Shopify executives, and other industry investors.

Founded by Andrius Šlimas, Tomas Šlimas, and Reinis Štrodahs, Saltz connects professional kitchens directly with verified food suppliers through a digital marketplace platform available via browser and mobile app. The company aims to streamline food sourcing by consolidating supplier catalogues, ordering, payments, and logistics into a single interface.

The founders previously built global B2B marketplace products at Oberlo and Shopify and are now applying similar marketplace infrastructure to the food distribution sector, which they view as largely fragmented and still reliant on manual processes.

Saltz currently operates in 20 countries, providing chefs with access to fresh and frozen meat and seafood products. The company says restaurants often rely on multiple distributors and manual ordering systems, while suppliers face challenges reaching customers efficiently. The platform is designed to create a transparent and simplified procurement process that connects kitchens directly with suppliers across borders.

With the new capital, Saltz plans to expand into additional European markets, onboard more suppliers, and grow its team by more than 100 employees by the end of 2026. The company is also investing in product development and infrastructure designed to support cross-border food distribution at scale.
