Salzgitter Names Christoph Martin Chief Financial Officer

Salzgitter AG has appointed Christoph Martin as Chief Financial Officer, effective October 1, 2026.

Martin will succeed Birgit Potrafki, who has decided not to renew her CFO contract when it expires on January 31, 2027 and will leave the company to pursue another career opportunity.

Potrafki will remain with Salzgitter through the end of January to support the transition of her responsibilities.

She joined the Management Board in February 2024 and helped oversee initiatives including the P28 earnings improvement program, financing strategy and development of the company’s IT and finance infrastructure. Salzgitter also joined the MDAX during her tenure.

Martin has served on the management boards of Salzgitter Mannesmann Handel and Salzgitter Mannesmann International since January 2025.

He began his career in production controlling at thyssenkrupp Steel Europe and subsequently held a number of controlling and finance positions.

Martin studied economics at the University of Duisburg-Essen and earned an LL.M. from the JurGrad School of Tax and Business Law at the University of Münster.
