At the Gamescom 2018 conference, Samsung announced a new set of gaming monitors as part of the CJG5 series. There are two options in the series.
“Due to the rapidly increasing demands of gaming monitors, we sought to offer competitively-priced gaming monitors for more users to benefit from premium technology,” said Samsung’s Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business Seog-gi Kim. “With the technological expertise that we have accumulated throughout the years, we are making efforts to accelerate the gaming features such as 144Hz and high WQHD resolution, which will be appreciated by the mass market.”
Here is a breakdown of the Samsung CJG5 features:
Size Options:
The two CJG5 options include a 32-inch(C32JG5) and 27-inch(C27JG5) version.
Resolution:
Both of these monitors have curved 2560 x 1440 VA panels and a refresh rate of 144Hz. And the aspect ratio is 16:09.
Ports:
The monitors have two HDMI ports (one 2.0 and one 1.4). And there is also a DisplayPort.
Pricing:
The CJG5 monitors have a price of $329.99 for the 27-inch option and $399.99 for the 32-inch version.
The Verge pointed out that the 27-inch is likely a better choice because 1440p would appear better at that size. And it would likely look “blocky” when it is stretched to a 32-inch size. But the curvature on a smaller panel may not be as immersive of an experience while gaming.
