Samsung has committed $1 billion to Helix Digital Infrastructure, an artificial intelligence infrastructure company formed by KKR to develop data centers, power systems, connectivity, and other infrastructure required by hyperscale technology companies.

The investment is being made through Samsung’s long-duration capital fund and builds on more than $10 billion already committed to Helix by founding investors KKR, the Kuwait Investment Authority, NVIDIA, and Vistra.

The additional capital will support Helix as it invests in and develops infrastructure required for the continued expansion of AI computing.

Helix is focused on creating integrated infrastructure solutions spanning hyperscale data centers, power generation and transmission, fiber connectivity, and related systems.

The company plans to develop and manage projects across North America and international markets.

Samsung’s involvement could extend beyond providing capital.

Helix expects to explore opportunities to use Samsung’s capabilities across advanced technology, construction, energy storage, and data center cooling.

These capabilities would complement NVIDIA’s expertise in AI computing infrastructure and Vistra’s experience in power generation.

The partnership brings together several Samsung businesses with technology relevant to large-scale AI infrastructure.

Samsung Electronics’ Device Solutions division develops memory, System LSI, and semiconductor foundry technologies used across advanced computing systems.

Its Device eXperience division provides data center cooling technology through FläktGroup, including traditional air cooling systems and coolant distribution units supporting liquid-cooled computing environments.

Samsung acquired FläktGroup in 2025.

The business operates 14 production facilities worldwide and maintains a supply and service network across 65 countries, giving it international manufacturing and deployment capabilities.

Samsung C&T Engineering & Construction brings experience developing large-scale infrastructure as an engineering, procurement, and construction contractor.

Its work includes data centers and power generation projects, two areas becoming increasingly connected as AI facilities require substantially greater amounts of electricity.

Samsung SDS designs, constructs, and operates data centers and has expanded into GPU-as-a-Service offerings.

Samsung said the company operates data centers with low power usage effectiveness and applies those capabilities to projects including the Korea AI Computing Center.

Samsung SDI contributes battery technology used in uninterruptible power supplies and battery backup units that support high-performance computing infrastructure operating continuously.

Helix was established in response to growing demand for AI infrastructure from hyperscale technology companies.

The company is led by Adam Selipsky, former CEO of Amazon Web Services, alongside a management team with experience across cloud computing, digital infrastructure, and energy systems.

KKR brings additional infrastructure investment capabilities to the platform.

The firm has invested more than $75 billion in digital infrastructure and power globally, and approximately $9 billion in its investment strategies in Korea.

Helix is designed to provide a single platform that addresses several infrastructure requirements simultaneously, including computing facilities, power supply, cooling, transmission, and connectivity.

The approach reflects the increasingly integrated nature of AI infrastructure development as hyperscalers seek partners capable of securing power, constructing large-scale facilities, and rapidly deploying complex computing environments.

With Samsung’s new commitment, Helix now has an additional source of long-duration capital alongside strategic technology and infrastructure partners.

Samsung, NVIDIA, KIA, and Vistra are investors in Helix and will participate in returns generated by the company. Certain strategic partners may also receive priority or first-look rights to provide products and services to Helix investments.

KEY QUOTE:

“Samsung’s commitment is a strong vote of confidence in Helix’s strategy and further deepens the long-term capital base we’ve built to meet the scale of AI infrastructure demand. As one of the world’s leading technology companies, Samsung brings unique capabilities that we expect will benefit Helix and its customers, and we look forward to working together to accelerate the deployment of next-generation digital infrastructure for hyperscalers around the world.”
