Samsung Launches Galaxy Buds On In U.S. For $229 With Open-Ear Design And AI Features

Samsung Galaxy Buds
Samsung Electronics America has announced U.S. availability for Galaxy Buds On, a new pair of open-ear wireless earbuds designed to provide clear audio while allowing users to remain aware of their surroundings. Galaxy Buds On will be available in black for $229 in the U.S. beginning in early November 2026.

Unlike traditional in-ear earbuds that create a seal for greater isolation and noise cancellation, Galaxy Buds On uses a clip-on design for situations where users want to listen to audio without disconnecting from their surroundings.

Samsung developed the design using more than 119 million ear data points, along with AI-assisted optimization and physics simulations. Computational modeling was used to refine speaker and battery placement, band stiffness, and overall geometry to reduce pressure while maintaining a secure fit.

Each earbud weighs 6.65 grams.

Galaxy Buds On uses an 11.3-millimeter TwinBoost Speaker combined with automatic volume adjustment that can respond to surrounding noise. Samsung also introduced Audio Leakage Reduction technology, which projects reversed sound waves from the rear of the speaker to reduce the amount of audio escaping outward.

The earbuds are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S7 Gen 1 Sound Platform.

For calls, Galaxy Buds On includes three microphones and a Voice Pickup Unit that detects vibrations created when the wearer speaks. Samsung’s Intelligent Clear Call technology combines those signals with a machine-learning system trained on ambient sounds such as traffic and construction noise to help isolate speech.

Battery life reaches up to 9.5 hours of music playback on the earbuds alone and up to 38 hours when including the charging case. Talk time reaches up to 5.5 hours per charge and 25 hours with the case.

Samsung is also integrating Galaxy Buds On more deeply with its Galaxy and AI ecosystem. Users can access Gemini Live through hands-free voice commands, capture thoughts using Quick Voice Memo, and use Bixby to search recordings.

Head Gestures add another hands-free control option, allowing users to nod to accept certain actions or shake their head to decline. Supported functions include calls, alarms, and notification interactions depending on the connected device and software version.

Galaxy Buds On also supports Bluetooth 6.2 and carries an IP54 rating for dust resistance and protection against water splashes.

For Galaxy device owners, setup does not require installing the Galaxy Wearable app. Opening the charging case can initiate pairing with a compatible phone or tablet, while volume and EQ settings can be managed through a Buds shortcut in the Quick Panel.
