Samsung Electronics has unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8, expanding its foldable smartphone portfolio with three devices designed around productivity, content consumption and personal expression.

The new lineup represents Samsung’s most extensive foldable offering to date. The Galaxy Z Fold8 introduces a redesigned form factor for everyday use, the Fold8 Ultra targets advanced productivity and content creation, and the Flip8 emphasizes compact portability and quick interactions.

Samsung has optimized Galaxy AI for each form factor. The larger Fold displays are designed to support multitasking and contextual AI workflows, while the Flip8’s FlexWindow brings information, shortcuts and automated actions to the external screen.

The devices also include Google’s Gemini Intelligence, which can complete connected actions across more than 40 supported applications and services. Users can provide text, screen or image context and ask the system to perform tasks such as researching tickets, locating restaurants and making reservations.

Galaxy Z Fold8

The Galaxy Z Fold8 is designed to transition between quick interactions on its cover screen and more immersive viewing on the internal display. The device weighs 201 grams, making it Samsung’s lightest Galaxy Z Fold model to date.

It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy and includes a 4,800 mAh battery. The Fold8’s cover display uses a 10:16 aspect ratio, while the unfolded main screen has a 4:3 ratio suited to gaming, films, reading and other long-form content.

The device has a 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display and a 5.5-inch cover screen. Both support adaptive refresh rates of up to 120 Hz.

Samsung introduced a new Flex Titanium display structure combining a titanium-alloy film with an enhanced titanium plate. The design is intended to make the phone thinner while improving display support, absorbing impact and reducing crease visibility over time.

The main screen can reach brightness levels of up to 3,000 nits and includes Vision Booster and a low-reflection finish for improved outdoor visibility.

The Fold8 includes dual 50-megapixel wide and ultra-wide rear cameras. Its Dual Recording feature can capture subjects and the user simultaneously, while My FanCam automatically tracks a selected person and reformats footage for social media.

The device offers configurations with 12 GB or 16 GB of memory and storage capacities ranging from 256 GB to 1 TB. It runs Android 17 with Samsung’s One UI 9 and supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0 and IP48 water resistance.

Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra

The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is positioned as Samsung’s highest-performance foldable. It has an 8-inch main display, measures 4.1 millimeters thick when unfolded and weighs 215 grams.

The device includes a 200-megapixel main camera with high dynamic range support at full resolution. A new 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera supports landscapes, group photos, interiors and macro photography.

Improved Nightography is designed to produce brighter photos and video in low-light environments. The Fold8 Ultra also supports 8K video through a new APV codec, while Cine LUT provides cinematic color controls for editing and production.

Like the standard Fold8, the Ultra model is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy. It includes a larger 5,000 mAh battery and a dual-path charging architecture supporting 45-watt wired charging.

Samsung has also incorporated an expanded graphite cooling structure to improve heat dissipation during intensive multitasking, content creation and AI workloads.

The Fold8 Ultra’s rear camera system combines the 200-megapixel main sensor with a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera offering 3x optical zoom.

Available configurations include up to 16 GB of memory and 1 TB of storage. The device also supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, 20-watt wireless charging and IP48 water resistance.

Galaxy Z Flip8

The Galaxy Z Flip8 is Samsung’s slimmest and lightest Flip device to date. It weighs 180 grams and measures 6.1 millimeters thick when unfolded.

Samsung has redesigned the phone’s FlexWindow as an AI-focused external interface. Users can access applications, personalized information and automated actions without opening the device.

Now Brief displays recommendations and information based on a user’s routine, interests and daily needs. Gemini Intelligence can also be activated through the side button or voice commands to complete connected tasks from the cover screen.

The Flip8 includes a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display and a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED FlexWindow. It is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 2600 processor and comes with 12 GB of memory and either 256 GB or 512 GB of storage.

Its 4,300 mAh battery supports 25-watt wired charging and 15-watt wireless charging. The device runs Android 17 and One UI 9 and supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 and IP48 water resistance.

The Flip8’s camera system includes a 50-megapixel main camera and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera. Flex Mode supports hands-free photography from different angles, while Camcorder Grip and Zoom Rocker are designed to provide greater stability when recording video.

Super Steady now includes a Horizontal Lock option to keep video level. FlipShot enables customized cover-screen mirror selfies, while Mirror View provides a more realistic preview before taking a picture.

Agentic AI, Privacy And Device Integration

Samsung’s Now Nudge feature can identify when plans are forming during a conversation and recommend subsequent actions, such as checking a schedule, searching for a location or saving an address.

Gemini Notebook provides a persistent workspace where users can combine documents, notes, images, recordings and files. On the Fold devices, users can drag content into the workspace through Split View and convert it into reports, summaries, infographics, audio overviews and meeting recaps.

The Galaxy Z series can also connect with devices including the Galaxy Watch Ultra2, Galaxy Watch9 and Samsung’s planned intelligent eyewear. Samsung said this integration will allow personalized insights and actions to move across devices.

The company has introduced an AI Assistant Activity dashboard through One UI 9. The dashboard provides a central location where users can review automated actions performed by AI agents and access their related settings.

Samsung Knox provides chip-level and software security throughout the devices. The Personal Data Engine supports personalized on-device AI, while Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection creates encrypted storage environments for individual applications. Privacy Alerts can also warn users about unnecessary attempts to access background permissions.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8 and Flip8 are available for preorder in select markets. All three are offered in Graphite and Cream, with additional standard and online-exclusive colors varying by model.
