SAP To Acquire TechWolf To Expand AI-Powered Workforce Intelligence

SAP has entered into an agreement to acquire TechWolf, an AI work intelligence company whose platform provides enterprises with continuously updated information about employee skills, tasks and workforce requirements.

The acquisition is expected to close during the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to customary closing requirements and regulatory approval.

TechWolf has developed a proprietary data model called a “context graph for work.”

The system draws information from connected HR and business platforms and models an organization at three levels: the work being performed, including individual tasks; the skills workers possess and apply; and external labor market conditions.

That information can then be compared with the company’s business strategy to support decisions around hiring, reskilling, redeployment and organizational design.

SAP expects TechWolf to become an intelligent core of its SuccessFactors portfolio.

The technology will support skills mapping, workforce planning and organizational redesign and is expected to give SAP’s AI systems additional context around employee capabilities and work.

SAP and TechWolf already have joint customers and plan to develop additional AI-powered workforce and skills optimization products after closing.

SAP intends to further integrate TechWolf while maintaining availability of the platform for both SAP and non-SAP customers.

Subject to closing and required consultation, TechWolf is expected to remain an independent entity under co-founder and CEO Andreas De Neve.

The business will remain headquartered in Ghent, Belgium, with offices in London, New York and San Francisco.

Support: J.P. Morgan served as exclusive financial adviser to TechWolf.

KEY QUOTES:

“TechWolf’s proprietary context graph for skills and work provides an excellent grounding layer for agent queries regarding work and skills planning and talent management. This grounding layer perfectly matches our strategy. It makes token usage more efficient, lowers the cost of deploying workforce agents and will make Joule more intelligent in AI-driven HR scenarios such as skills-based hiring, workforce planning and role redesign.”

Manoj Swaminathan, President and Chief Product Officer for SAP Autonomous Suite and Member of the Extended Board of SAP SE

“Organizations everywhere are trying to figure out how AI is reshaping work, and what their workforce needs to look like because of it. We have spent eight years building the evidence layer to answer those questions. It’s always been our mission to connect skills, tasks and work to help employers solve AI transformation, and joining SAP will allow us to extend that mission across a broader set of business context and larger scale. In this next chapter, we plan to build a world-class AI company.”
